General Motors and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration have issued a recall on certain examples of the Buick Enclave, Chevy Traverse and GMC Acadia mid-size crossovers for a problem related to the side curtain airbags.
The problem: in affected vehicles, the side curtain airbags may not have been properly attached during production at the factory.
The hazards: unsecured side curtain airbags may not operate as intended and can therefore increase the risk of injury in the event of an accident.
The fix: GM will notify owners of affected vehicles and dealers will inspect and, if necessary, realign or replace the weld nuts on the side curtain airbags. These repairs will be performed at no cost to the vehicle owner.
Affected components: side curtain airbags/side curtain airbag welds.
Number of affected vehicles: a total of 108 vehicles in the United States are potentially affected by this problem.
Owners should: GM will notify owners of affected vehicles and instruct them to make an appointment with their dealer. If owners are unsure whether or not their vehicle is affected by this recall, they can visit my.gm.com/
