The 2024 GMC Hummer EV SUV will feature an off-road Trail Mapping navigation system that will allow users to easily discover and navigate off-road trails.
The Trail Mapping feature will be available via the redesigned myGMC smartphone app and can be projected onto the infotainment screen in the 2024 GMC Hummer EV SUV. This technology will allow users to view a trail’s path before they set out on their journey and while they are on it, helping them navigate the backcountry with ease. The app will also allow the user to monitor their vehicle’s energy consumption in real-time, reducing range anxiety while out on the trails. This energy forecast will use community-based information to predict the vehicle’s range, ensuring the information is up-to-date and accurate.
Additionally, the Trail Mapping feature will incorporate charging locations on the navigation screen and their distances from off-road locations. This will also help reduce range anxiety for Hummer EV drivers, helping them plan their off-road trip and charging spots before they venture out deeper into the wilderness. Users can also send and share their off-road trip with friends who might want to meet them on the trail or discover the off-road path for themselves in their own GMC Hummer EV.
“It’s technology that adds to the Hummer EV’s immersive driving experience,” Mike Colville, GMC’s senior manager for EV feature integration and execution, said of the new trail mapping software. “More than simply locating a destination, we help you find an epic one, create an EV-unique navigation experience when you get there and allow you to share your trip with others.”
The 2024 GMC Hummer EV will come standard with a 13.4 inch diagonal infotainment screen for projecting the trail maps onto. Joining the standard 13.4-inch display is a 12.3-inch diagonal driver information center display, which can also display the trail mapping projection in addition to basic info like battery capacity and ground speed.
To recap, the Hummer EV SUV rides on the same BT1 platform as the Hummer EV pickup and utilizes tGM’s latest Ultium batteries and Ultium motors. Production will begin at the GM Factory Zero plant, previously known as the GM Detroit-Hamtramck plant, in early 2023. Prices for the Edition 1 model will start at $105,595 including destination.
