Cadillac has revealed the 2023 Cadillac Lyriq in full production form, providing additional insight into the all-electric crossover’s various features and specs. When it goes on sale next year, the 2023 Cadillac Lyriq will start at $59,990 in the U.S., with reservations opening in September of 2021.
The 2023 Cadillac Lyriq is the first all-electric vehicle ever produced by the luxury marque. Like the Lyriq show car that debuted in August of last year, the production-ready Lyriq features crisp, futuristic styling, including an X-shaped front fascia and elegant profile. LED lighting illuminates the way forward. In the corners, the Lyriq rides on standard 20-inch split six-spoke alloy wheels, while 22-inch dynamic split-spoke Reverse Rim alloys are optional.
Inside the cabin, we find the 2023 Cadillac Lyriq dash dominated by a 33-inch LED display, while Active Noise Cancellation keeps road noise at bay. There’s also a 19-speaker stereo system from AKG, which includes speakers mounted in the headrests. Interior color combos include Sky Cool Gray and Noir, the former of which is seen below with Galvano Accents. The GM Super Cruise semi-autonomous driver assist system is offered as an available extra.
The 2023 Cadillac Lyriq is motivated by a 100 kWh lithium-ion battery pack and single-motor powertrain driving the rear wheels. Output is measured at 340 horsepower and 325 pound-feet of torque, with more than 300 miles of range offered per charge. DC fast charging nets up to 195 miles of range in 30 minutes.
The 2023 Cadillac Lyriq will roll of the line at GM’s Spring Hill, Tennessee assembly facility in the first quarter of 2022, following a $2 billion investment at the facility to support all-electric vehicle production. Pricing starts at $59,990 in the U.S., as previously reported. Canadian customers can expect a price tag of CA$69,898, destination freight charge included.

Wow, it’s $20K cheaper than bmw’s ugly junk ix4. Really, Just compare the interiors of the both. They just glued a pair of square flat screen on the dash, it looks so afterthought and cheap. Then they realized i guess , they put some fake wood and glass to the console to offset. Lol it’s so tacky. Not to mention GM’s ultium battery tech is miles ahead of germans.
The BMW iX might go down as one of the if not the ugliest vehicle ever designed.
I am convinced it is so ugly because BMW doesn’t want to shift to EV’s as they have the greatest Six in the Business and do not want to give up that leadership.
Yeah, the iX, is definitely a misfire of design, I usually like BMW’s, but that is one only a mother could love.
Price of this vehicle is attractive for what you get:
1). Not mentioned here, but supposedly an 11 kw standard Charger, with a 7 kw dual voltage charging cord standard. (3.5 miles per hour @ 110, and 20 miles per hour recooperation @ 220 —> 30 mph if using a home 48 ampere wall box).
2). A Stylish front and sides at least…. Some people don’t like the ‘Toyota’ Rear View of this car – but with everything else pretty positive, I guess I’ll have to get used to it.
3). 340 hp (more than enough for me), and most importantly, 300 miles of range.
Too bad the car is only available outside in Black and White, and inside – Black and Grey.
Is there a world-wide paint shortage or something?
it’s to simplify initial production. Next model year will get more colors to choose from.
Just downloaded the 19 page brochure from Cadillac.
It says the 19.2 kw charger depends only on the wall box (to be technically correct – it also depends on the voltage maintained AT the wall box, but that is splitting hairs).
It says nothing about any other car charger being available. I got the 11.4 kw information from Nebula and Inside EVs….
Looks like both Nebula and Inside EVs are incorrect – assuming the brochure is semi-accurate, and GM Authority is the one here who is the most accurate. Since the 30 ampere ‘dual voltage occasional use cord’ is standard with the BOLT EUV, presumably Cadillac will include one here also so that people always have SOMETHING.
The Cadillac Lyriq should steal some customers from Tesla, Mercedes-Benz, Lexus, and BMW.
I love this car, but surprised it isn’t offered with dual motors and AWD.
GM’s production of EVs is slow for a while. I guess GM preferred to launch the base LYRIQ or all it’s new EVs would be $ 100k vehicles.
Well have to put platform in that statement, because GM has the new Bolt EUV for under 40.
Yes but the EUV is BEV2, basically a refreshed Bolt EV.
Cadillac could have offered both RWD and AWD as options. Most OEMs have been positioning the lower-cost, higher-range models as RWD, while the AWD variants have been more “performance-oriented.”
That’s exactly what they’re doing with the Lyriq.
The launch editions are RWD only, but AWD will be an option for Year 2.
Well, a top-end FWD XT5 is around $60k and it’s not that thing. An Audi e-Tron is $70k with less range. Nice move, Cadillac.
Where does it say the vehicle pictured is $59,990? It’s not. The vehicle shown has the 22″ wheels and other options which will likely push it well into the $70K+ range.
Go to Cadillacs website and you’ll see the pictures with a quote vehicle shown is around $60k. Just don’t know for sure what’s included in that price but it seems to be well optioned.
Main question, does the home charger come with that price
Read somewhere that home charger was included with the initial vehicles. Numerous features will be packaged in the initial launch (though it won’t be a launch edition???) that will likely be options down the line.
They could be referring to the portable 240V Charger the Bolt EUV gets.
I absolutely love this vehicle inside and out. Design wise Cadillac hit a Grand Slam.
Having said all that, 60K for a Single Motor RWD is way too expensive. A Dual Motor version will mostly likely start at like 67/69K and that is extremely pricey. This thing is looking like it’ll be 90/100K vehicle fully loaded.
Hope I am wrong.
i think $60K is a very attractive price.
could you list the specs/price of the competition that you are alluding to?
I guess it all depends on what Segment Cadillac is thinking this will compete in.
It is a two row SUV and not a three row one so I guess they are going after the three year old Audi E-Tron which starts at 65K and has Dual Motors Standard but has the full $7500 Rebate.
Then you have the Rivian R1S two row SUV which has Quad Motors standard and starts at 70K with the Full $7500 Tax Rebate as well. But you can also add a third row.
Then the Tesla Model X (which is bigger) two row starts at 89K but comes standard with Dual Motors and 370 Miles of range.
The Tesla Model Y (which is smaller) starts at 50K which also comes with Dual Motors as standard.
BMW iX (if reports are accurate is a pretty big vehicle in between an X5 and X7) will start at 85K with Dual Motors and the Full $7500 Rebate. This will be interesting to see where the Lyriq ends up in the Segment. Like I said Design wise both inside and out it is amazing.
the e-tron has a range of only about 220.
all of the other vehicles you listed cost a lot more and by the time the lyriq comes out. gm will almost certainly qualify for the 7500 rebate again.
@Steve
Audi went with lower Miles just like partner Porsche but they have an 800 Volt Charging System.
Those two vehicles can charge at 350kW currently and can charge more if they ever get faster DC Stations….that is better than even Tesla.
Having said all that, I personally will always pick more range than faster Charging speed as long as it is at least at 150kw per Hour.
Audi E-tron does not have 800v charging, I have one. Porsche Taycan is the only 800v architecture in production currently, Hyundai, and Kia, are coming next with 800v.
The E-tron peaks at 150 kW charging, but it holds that rate all the way to 78% SOC. I have seen mine hit 152-153kW in perfect conditions at 75% SOC
While I agree $60k is expensive, you have to realize that GMs sole plan with the Lyriq is rather steal market share from the Tesla Model Y/Ford Mach E. So with that said the ability to quickly charge will most definitely be a bargaining point for GM. When the other automakers figure out the way to quickly charge then GM will have by then figured out how to get the performance aspect in there with a “V” model
I think the Lyriq is bigger than the Tesla Model Y which in my opinion is an absolute steal if that size vehicle suits your needs. A fully loaded Model Y Performance that goes to 60 MPH in 3.4 seconds tops out at 65K.
I just fear that the Lyriq will get a little too close to 90K when everything is added. That needs to be a three row XT6 sized EV in my opinion. We shall see what happens but I absolutely love the Lyriq but I just do not think it will be in my budget unfortunately. But I sure as hell will try my best to get everyone that I know that can afford it to go look at it.
Cadillac absolutely nailed it inside and out with the Lyriq.
Tesla model Y is an economy car with a great EV powertrain, I have one of those too, and it is in no way in the same category with this Cadillac or the E-Tron. The Lyriq will have better suspension and chassis tuning, quieter interior, more features, and is better looking. Model Y was the best AWD EV value crossover last year (the reason I bought one), but that is changing now
Looking great, has a relaxing vibe to it like a..Cadillac.
GM is doing this right. They are offering a very attractive model at a great intro price. Once it hits the market they will expand the options and price as excitement builds.
Note the $59,000 price is like how GM intros many new models like the Corvette ands Solstice with a lower than expected price and then they make much more available as people come to buy the car over the next year or so.
Styling here puts Tesla to shame inside and out. The Tesla looks like someone put a pen down long before the concept was finished. The interior of the Tesla looks like a base model car. Cadillac has topped them in both areas.
The price is reasonable and even when the second motor is added it should still be in the same place in segment as if it has a ICE engine.
As for range it will increase and GM usually low balls the numbers as they rather give a low estimate and get better miles vs big numbers that are never met. This is how the HP and CAFE numbers have been done.
If this vehicle can stir the market they can then follow this one us soon with another EV that will continue to grow the market.
There really has never been an EV I have seen or driven I would buy but this is one I would not have a problem with.
I can see this vehicle doing very well in So Cal where the trends and influences for the country often take root.
If the dealer experience is right and the quality is spot on these could be the next big new trend in the segment and replace Tesla as the class darling.
I hope GM is on top of the dealers to make sure they are responding correctly to the customers needs. They will not get a second change on this.
I’d just like to point out the Tesla Model S was originally designed by Franz von Holzhausen same guy who penned the Saturn Sky and Pontiac Solstice.
But agreed, the Cadillac has outclassed the Tesla which their design has been stuck in 2012/14 for far to long.
Yes something most of us already know. But yet they are now offering an entire line with no grill or face styling on it that leave the vehicle looking unfinished. Even the S is not as good looking as it once was.
As for interior. Just look at both and no comments are needed.
The S was as good as it got and even the update was botched on it.
Dare I say, an interior to be proud of from gm! Now, only if they can replace that cheap, crappy interior on the trucks!
Very astonishing to see such a close resemblance to the show car. Truly an artistic piece. Something about that 3/4 rear end had me feeling reserved about it’s design, but I think it was just the silver color. Launching the visualizer on Cadillac’s website and seeing it in black looks much better to me. For starting at 60k I think it’s going to be a winner.
What moron at gm decided to limit to 2 colors? Also, give us more interior colors.
MotorTrend is reporting that the limited color availability will only apply to early models. Somewhat uncommon for OEMs to do that, but hopefully there will be more variety down the line.
GM actually informed us why they are doing this with the Hummers, they are going slow on the first model year for the new production line and State of the Art Paint Shops that were built, then gradually introducing new colors.
I’d assume same thing for the Lyriq.
And also to streamline the launch process of two radical new electric vehicles for the company. True, Nebula.
Cadillac has done an amazing job on the Lyriq, the production-ready Lyriq is very close to the concept. The interior is beautiful, high quality materials, 33 inch OLED display, AKG Audio and other luxury features. I’m glad Cadillac kept the flush illuminated door handles, instead of the traditional. Very excited for the Cadillac Celestiq!
The limited options and colors at intro are general marketing plans.
I can recall when the Fiero arrived they were all red and white. This made them stand out as all the marketing shows the same.
Then as time advanced new colors were marketed as were models and options
There is a cycle in the media and if you show al, the cards early they forget about you.
Also this helps too in start up of production too. This will help GM to make sure the cars at intro are right. Soft starts are also nothing new.
Rushing out everything would be troublesome in a number of ways.
Note this is an auto industry standard of marketing as GM is far from the only one to do it. Even computer companies and cell phone companies to the same thing with yearly products.
There is ample promise of many new things to come here and all now at a price below what some expected to be the starting cost.
What we need to watch are the aspects that are built in. What is the interior sound levels. What is the ride and handling like. What are the driving modes and just how easy is that dash to use while driving. Are the seats top grade or just good enough.
These are the important things here Did GM get the details right?
I like to think based on the styling they may have but till it arrives or it is tested will have to wait.
This is the first true Cadillac product in years that shared nothing with a Chevy or another GM model at this point. Is this more than a styling exercise and a true complete product.
This is more about colors and just an intro model.
Any info about the super HUD they promised?
The dual-plane HUD? I assume it’s still coming as an option.
There is a HUD theme button on the screen. I’d assume it’s one of them.
In 1975 another radical, watershed Cadillac was introduced. The first Seville. The first 2500 were offered in only ONE color. Inside and out. Silver/Gray. Like the Lyriq, the Seville was such a departure from standard production practice and they wanted build quality to be consistent. They knew the world was watching.
Personally I’m waiting for vehicles to return to proportional size wheels- otherwise you might as well buy the latest Farm Tractor.
Seems really nice, especially the price. Will most likely be under $100,000 with options.
But living in an apartment with street parking and no or limited chargers, i guess cadillacs will be out of the question for me. Maybe hire someone from Cuba to maintain my wife’s ATS and keep it going.
Not bad for a funeral car.
