Chevrolet is planning a number of small changes for the 2022 Corvette Stingray and its list of available options, including a new low-profile rear spoiler that will be available with or without the Z51 performance package.
The low-profile rear spoiler carries RPO code TVS in the 2022 Corvette’s order book and is available as a standalone option on the mid-engine sports car. Applying the low profile rear spoiler to the 2022 Corvette will also add a small Z51-style front splitter to the vehicle for some added front/rear aero balance. This option is available with or without the Z51 performance package and will replace the taller rear spoiler that usually comes standard with Z51-equipped vehicles.
Harlan Charles, marketing manager for the Chevy Camaro and Corvette programs, said the low profile rear spoiler is for 2022 Corvette buyers who want something “ in between a Z51 spoiler and no spoiler at all,” during the 2021 National Corvette Museum Bash last weekend.
In addition to the low profile rear spoiler, the 2022 Corvette also introduces three new exterior colors. These include the following:
- Hypersonic Gray Metallic (RPO code GA7)
- Amplify Orange Tintcoat (RPO code G48)
- Caffeine Metallic (RPO code GC5)
It is believed that these three new colors will replace Sebring Orange, Shadow Gray, and Zeus Bronze on the 2022 Corvette’s color palette. The 2022 Corvette is also set to offer one or two new interior color combinations and will introduce few minor changes to the features and equipment list, as well.
Cosmetic changes aside, the 2022 Corvette Stingray will continue to feature the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 LT2 gasoline engine, which produces a healthy 495 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque when equipped with the optional factory performance exhaust system. The 2022 Corvette is also expected to introduce two new high-performance model variants, the Corvette C8 E-Ray and the Corvette C8 Z06, but we’re still waiting on official confirmation from Chevy on that front.

Good move the low profile rear spoiler looks way cleaner and easy on the eye
New spoiler is perfect
I’m now glad that my order is bumped from a 2021 to a 2022
I will be making the change to the new spoiler
I would also like to see the yellow brake calipers change from a matte finish to a gloss finish like the torch red calipers are.
I prefer this to a Big wing myself.
The only thing I wish GM would have done different on the C8 would be an Active Rear Wing.
Perhaps there might be one in the works on a high performance variant… I’d love to see that as well!
Blends in nicely with the body styling.
Excellent….another small but important change to each model year of Corvette! That new spoiler look has a much nicer “molded into the rear deck” look to it, less “Kiddie Racer” look that larger spoiler tend to produce, although some folks do like that look, to me, this new spoiler looks “just right”, Bravo Corvette Styling!
However, please don’t stop “improving the marque”….lets get rid of those gawd awful factory wheels (standard or optional) that for some reason just don’t seem to project a certain image that this new C8 seems to be close to doing, but as of yet, “no cigar”. I do realize their are many after market wheels available, and the choices are amazing if not mind boggling, but in the past, some model year Corvette’s simply had either standard of factory optional wheels that were just amazing, transforming an already great looking sports car…into one that you can’t take your eyes off of, some examples are….
The early 1964-1967 C2 alloy wheels come to mind, and the optional alloy’s 1973-1981 were really popular and attractive, of course the 1982 Special Edition that had the replica ’67 alloy wheel, and then of course various other specialty wheels like with those C5-C7 Z06’s and ZR-1’s….beautifully designed wheels, and not “just in boring black” either!
Same goes for the styling, like the rear end of the C8…time to “smoothen it out”, and for gosh sakes dump the 4 square exhaust tips, make ’em round again…hey it’s a new year for the C8’s coming up in 2022 so lets have a few more updates and stylish mods to denote the 2022’s! Simple but effective is the way to go…it’s worked on past Corvette’s of all generations and so lets not skip the new C8, it begs for some cool stylish factory modifications, besides 3 new colors.
Too bad they lie so much . I have tried since july 2020 to get the gift promised to new C8 owners with no results but 8 different ( lies) stories from Corvette Concierge.
I Don’t think it makes any difference. You (me) can’t get a C8. I’ve had a SRE, 1100 order since October 2020, and have been told by dealer, We don’t know WHEN your car will be built. Maybe 2022?” Winter? I’m disgusted.
I am a huge Corvette fan but this is crazy how stealerships are charging a premium on top of the purchase price, should not be allowed. These dealerships are rich enough. It’s a joke they say the car is $59,000 you tell me where you can buy one for that what a bunch of BS.
You better check around most dealers sell at MSRP so if yours does not look around.
They are trying I got my order in today after waiting sense October when I put the $$$ down-to be # 8 on the dealer list
wow I’m waiting since Oct too with no order status above 1100 in sight. Dealer says maybe winter
got it love it
similar to one of the above comments I too have a deposit given Oct 2020. What is strange is the allocation process. I understand that Chevy wants to put the larger dealers first, no problem. Chevy should consider the end users purchase date and that’s the order in which the cars should be built and Chevy should figure out a way in which the consumer orders are produced by a first come first served and also balance a way to reward the larger dealers. Its a crazy system where the cust is put last. I also agree that some nice changes on the rear are in demand, After all the Corvette rear looks so similar to the Camaro, a sleeker rounder rear would give the car separation from some of its siblings. All in all still cant wait to get into mine whenever that may be? your guess is as good as mine what a cluster.
is anyone know the answer if this a true statement? my local GM dealer told me that GM won’t allow to order a Carbon Flash Painted High Wing Spoiler with Z51 package. and in order to to get to Carbon Flash Painted High Wing Spoiler I have to drop the Z51 package in which I don’t want so I have no choice but to go with Z51 package that come with Z51 Spoiler. very disappointed with GM on this add on option.
I’ve had my Red Mist HTC with a high wing spoiler for a month now and love the look, Can’t wait to see what the Z06 wings look like.
