2022 Chevy Equinox Gains Wireless Apple CarPlay And Android Auto

The refreshed 2022 Chevy Equinox is set to gain wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard equipment across all trim levels.

The 2022 Chevy Equinox will offer the Chevrolet Infotainment 3 system with a seven-inch touchscreen as standard on LS, LT, and RS trim levels. Meanwhile, the Premier trim level will include an eight-inch screen. Both the LT and RS trim will offer an eight-inch screen as an optional upgrade.

The Chevy Equinox mid-size crossover was originally slated to receive a refresh for the 2021 model year. However, the refresh was pushed back to the 2022 model year as a result of complications stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic.

General Motors had also planned to introduce a new turbocharged 2.0L I4 gasoline engine with the refreshed 2022 Chevy Equinox, namely the turbocharged 2.0L I4 LSY. However, those plans later changed, and now, the 2022 Chevy Equinox will be offered exclusively with the turbocharged 1.5L I4 LYX gasoline engine, as it is now following the discontinuation of the turbo 2.0L I4 LTG. Output from the LYX is rated at 170 horsepower and 203 pound-feet of torque. The six-speed automatic transmission currently offered for the 2021 model year will carry over to the 2022 model year.

In terms of styling, the 2022 Chevy Equinox will introduce a new front grille design, a revised lower fascia, new fog lights, new taillights, and a new rear bumper. The 2022 model year will also introduce the new RS trim level, which will include a variety of trim-specific styling upgrades that lend the crossover a more aggressive appearance. The 2022-model-year refresh will also add four new paint options.

Under the skin, the 2022 Chevy Equinox will continue to ride on the GM D2 platform. Production for North American markets will take place primarily at the GM CAMI plant in Canada, and to a lesser extent at the GM San Luis Potosi plant and GM Ramos Arizpe plant in Mexico.

    1. Your expectations are way too high for a Chevy. I have a 2021 Hyundai Kona and this is a mega upgrade from that. This car is good for whoever wants it. It’s a Chevy product, not a Buick or Cadillac. Your standards need another look over.

  2. No idea how they expect any of these to built, since the workers at Cami have been laid off from the beginning of February and have only built a handful of these refreshed models and with no clear vision of when they’ll ever return, and now somehow incorporating the EV600? What a mess.

  3. Rental car customers will appreciate the wireless CarPlay…

    1. Nobody will buy this vehicle only rental and fleet being that going away with 2.0 l engine and only staying with 1.5 engine and leaving 6 spd automatic what the point . Good luck with that gm. Only sale it with high residual and and other incentives. Just like the sane as the terrain killing the 2.0 litre option with that vehicle also customers will shop other manufacturers!!

  4. I have a 2018 with the 2.0 turbo. Love it. So much fun. It was an expensive add on. To bad GM isn’t continuing the 2 liter and 9 speed combo it is a real winner. But then GM always screws up a good thing.

    1. Well gmc might not do it but I tell you the new Buick envision avenir is a great looking vehicle and has a 2.0 l engine and a 4 year 80k warranty and was thinking on a new terrain Denali but I think Buick is the way to go !!! Any thoughts???

  6. I was all ready to buy a new Equinox or Terrain until I drove them both with the 1.5 turbo. City driving is ok but highway driving is not great and with the family it’s down right terrible. No 2.0 turbo so I ordered a new Hyundai Santa Fe Calligraphy after driving .

  7. I ground a new 2018 Equinox 1.5 turbo work vehicle into the ground with 255k. Trannies go first, then engine and/or turbo.
Can’t wait to get my “ordered” 2022.
I can’t really complain, it’s been a great, reliable vehicle.
Except for the engine shutting off every time I stop, and if I park, get out, get back in because I forgot something, the horn does a tripple honk. Oh, and the turbo lag! One has to plan ahead if attempting to do a quick maneuver without killing anyone.
Besides those few things, I think it was/is money well spent.
