2021 GMC Sierra MultiPro Tailgate Step Lights Available To Order Again

The MultiPro tailgate Step Lights option for the 2021 GMC Sierra pickup truck is once again available to order. The option was previously unavailable due to supplier constraints.

The Step Lights option is offered as an LPO-level accessory, which means it is delivered to and installed by the dealer. The optional extra is tagged with RPO code 63G, and is available on all GMC Sierra 1500 and GMC Sierra HD trim levels, with the exception of the upcoming entry-level Elevation (RPO code 3VL) trim level, which GM Authority covered previously.

The Step Lights option for the GMC Sierra requires the inclusion of the MultiPro tailgate. To note, the MultiPro tailgate is optional on the base trim level of both the Sierra 1500 and Sierra HD models, and standard on all other trims.

Essentially, the MultiPro tailgate Step Lights option includes a pair of small lights that are added to the inner gate of the MultiPro tailgate, providing illumination for the step-up when fully deployed. This is particularly useful for owners that need to step into and out of the GMC Sierra bed in limited lighting conditions, such as at night. Pricing for the option is set at $200.

The GMC Sierra MultiPro tailgate provides upwards of six different positions for a multitude of different tasks. These include the traditional Primary Gate Access, as well as a Primary Gate Load Stop, a Foldable Inner Gate, an Inner Gate Load Stop, an Inner Gate Work Surface, and a Full-Width Step. The MultiPro tailgate Step Lights option covered in this post works with the Full-Width Step configuration.

What’s more, customers can option the MultiPro tailgate with a built-in sound system as an official GMC accessory. The tailgate sound system includes Bluetooth connectivity, with a built-in panel providing the controls.

  1. Do these work with the kicker multi pro speakers?

    1. I believe they do, but I’m not 100% sure. Checking the Kicker installation instructions on line, it appears the Kicker comes with what the kit calls “light kit plugs”, that fill the holes above the controls and USB ports, when the light kit’s not used.

I ordered a new Denali back in January, and initially wanted both the kicker and the step lights, but the lights on the production hold at the time. There was nothing in the GM system preventing ordering both, other than the hold on the light kit. My truck hit my dealer a few days ago, but I’m traveling and won’t be able to pick it up till early next week. When I do get it, I plan on looking into getting the lights.

      1. I was looking at the Accessories page at GMC.com this morning, and saw under the description of the MultiPro Kicker the following: “Compatible with MultiPro™/Multi-Flex light kits”
