2021 Chevy Trax Gets New Iridescent Pearl Color: First Look

The 2021 Chevy Trax features various minor changes and updates, including the addition of the turbocharged 1.4L I4 LE2 gas engine, which replaces the turbo-four LUV engine of the same displacement. Additionally the 2021 Trax adds four new exterior colors to its palette: Crimson Metallic, Shadow Gray Metallic, Midnight Blue Metallic, and Iridescent Pearl Tricoat. Here’s our first look at the new Iridescent hue.

Availability

Assigned color code GP5 and touch-up paint code WA-485B, Iridescent Pearl Tricoat is the only tricoat option available for the 2021 Chevy Trax. The new hue is one of two white paint colors, with Summit White being the other. Notably, three of the four new-for-2021 exterior colors are metallic paint options and one tricoat option.

The new Iridescent Pearl Tricoat color is not included in the base price of the 2021 Chevy Trax, it adds an additional cost of $645 to the vehicle’s price. It is available with all interior color combinations but is only offered on the LT trim level.

It is worth noting the Premier trim level was deleted for the 2021 model year, leaving only the LS and LT trims for the Trax. Additionally, the Jet Black with Brandy interior combination was deleted for the 2021 model year.

  1. The 2021 Trax was never assembled in the GM San Luis Potosi plant in Mexico. The last Trax built there was in February 2020 as a 2020MY.
Korea’s Bupyeong plant is the only plant building it.
Now, why announcing the “new hues” for the 2021Trax (and the Encore) if there are only 2 months left before shifting to the 2022MY? Kind of late I think.

  2. Nice to see lighter color…need more light color choices imo 🙂
