The 2021 Chevy Malibu features various minor changes and updates, including the addition of one new exterior color: Cherry Red Tintcoat. Here’s our first look at the new hue.
Assigned color code GSK and touch-up paint code WA-252F, Cherry Red Tintcoat is the only red hue available for the 2021 Chevy Malibu. It’s also the only tintcoat option available for the sedan. Notably, the new Cherry Red Tintcoat is rather similar to the Cajun Red Tintcoat option, which was closer to maroon. The Cajun Red hue was deleted after the 2020 model year.
The new Cherry Red color is not included in the base price of the 2021 Malibu. Instead, it costs an additional $495. This new color is not available on L or LS entry-level models but can be combined with all three interior color combinations.

- Dark Atmosphere with Medium Ash Gray
- Jet Black
- Dark Atmosphere with Light Wheat
It’s worth noting that the addition of the Cherry Red hue is a bit of a common theme for 2021 model year Chevy models, as a few other of the Bow Tie’s models – such as the Silverado 1500 and Blazer – also adopted the color.
As of this writing, the 2021 Chevy Malibu can already be found at dealers, since the GM Fairfax plant in Kansas City has been assembling and shipping the 2021 model to dealers for the last several months. Models in the Cherry Red Tintcoat exterior color are already on dealer lots. Availability varies by dealer, so check with yours for complete details.
It’s one of two new hues for the 2022 Camaro. A last-second merge is almost never a good idea.
