The 2021 Buick Encore features various minor changes and updates, such as a “new” standard engine – the turbocharged 1.4L LE2 I4 engine, but also the addition of two new exterior colors – Cinnabar Metallic and Dark Moon Blue Metallic. Here’s our first look at the new blue hue.
Assigned color code G5J and touch-up paint code WA-434E, Dark Moon Blue Metallic is the only blue hue available for the 2021 Buick Encore. It’s also one of four metallic colors available for the Buick crossover, and one of six exterior color options. The new blue hue is significantly darker than the Deep Azure Metallic blue, which has been deleted from the color palette for the 2021 model year.
The new Dark Moon Blue Metallic color is not included in the base price of the 2021 Encore. Instead, it carries an additional cost of $495. The color option also includes the Anthracite lower exterior accents, compared to the Satin Nickel Metallic lower exterior accents for models finished in the White Frost Tricoat exterior color.
Dark Moon Blue Metallic is available with all interior color combinations. Also, the new dark blue hue is available on Encore Preferred models, but is not available on the base trim level (1SV).

As of this writing, U.S. Chevy dealers are well-stocked with the 2021 Encore, since the GM Bupyeong factory in Korea has been assembling and shipping the 2021 model to dealers for quite some time now. In fact, the facility is about to begin production of the 2022 Encore. Models in the Dark Moon Blue Metallic exterior color are currently sitting on dealer lots. Availability varies by dealer, so check with yours for complete details.
