The refreshed 2022 Chevy Bolt EV is here, debuting alongside the all-new 2022 Chevy Bolt EUV as the sixth model year for the first-generation Bolt EV. Among the new 2022 Bolt EV’s updates is a complete overhaul for the all-electric hatchback/crossover’s exterior styling, which is now on display in the following real world photos.
Although we’ve seen the 2022 Chevy Bolt EV before in press photos, this is the first time we’ve seen the refreshed Bolt EV out in the wild in full production regalia.
Up front, the new 2022 Chevy Bolt EV arrives with a more upright front fascia, which now includes revised lighting signatures with a sharp, pulled-back shape. The new lighting elements include LEDs, which flow into updated headlights. The front end also features a revised grille section, seen here in a two-tone color treatment with a broad, body-colored center insert outlined in black. The gold Bow Tie badge seen on models past was replaced with a new black Bow Tie badge.
The profile is more familiar, with styling elements from the front end flowing into the window line and roofline. The two side styling lines divide then reunite further towards the rear end, giving the 2022 Chevy Bolt EV a sort of forward-leaning visual rake. Two-tone wheels in a turbine design occupy the corners.
Moving into the rear, we find the 2022-model-year refresh also reshaped the tail section. The hatch glass is now rounder and smoother, flowing horizontally along with reshaped taillights, the latter of which are stretched into the rear fenders and sport two-tiered inner graphics. The lower bumper section is done in black, bookending the black insert higher in the hatch.
Notably, we managed to capture the 2022 Chevy Bolt EV in two colors here, including Silver Flare Metallic and Bright Blue Metallic. Which is your favorite? The rear looks more Asian than American.
That’s “rayciss”.
Fugly did homer Simpson design this crap
She’s got a face for radio.
Seriously. Get the Tesla Model 3 instead. This is low-effort garbage.
The Bolt save me more money, so no. Also the Model 3 is way to bland in looks.
People really don’t realize what a base model 3 gets you. Your spending atleast 40k for a model 3.
Not a comment on the styling but I am interested in the new Bolts. The incentive to have a circuit installed as a perk intrigues me. But that’s not what my comment is centered on. I understand there are a number of the “old” version still on lots. Don’t want one. I thought waiting a couple weeks would be enough time to have information sent out to the dealerships about the hows to order an EUV. I was wrong. After using the web site, I’ve gotten a couple replies and both the same. Pushing the old version and not a mention of when the EUV would be available. Personally I am one of those that thinks the updates are enough to get me into this platform. I have no intention of using it as a long range vehicle. If it takes overnight at home to top it off, that’s perfect. But with all that said, I’m hoping that I’m wrong but my first inquiry makes me believe that the sales troops aren’t all in on these. That strikes me as odd since so many of the dealers are now part of larger “chains” and would at least hope there would be some sort of consideration towards steering customers towards somebody in the sales org that has an enthusiasm for this product. And if that thinking wasn’t considered at the chain level, GM would make it known that the chains “should” do something along that way. IMO Tesla isn’t the best choice. But at least they are good at selling it. And it shows. BTW, really do want to own an EUV, IMO the styling, size, price and capability fit me. that sunroof option is the factor that puts me firmly into the camp. But if it turns into a matter of having to chase for somebody to work with in the sale process………
Right now it’s only open for preorder on GM’s site and you can ask dealerships to put in an order for you.
When you go to the EV site and select the model you want it shows all the options.
They will start production near summer and be available in Summer.
I own a 2019 Bolt Premier and I’m holding on to it.
The Korean design my Bolt has is much better than the new model.
They made it ugly yet unremarkable.
I love my taillights and the new ones are generic.
Swing and a miss GM.
i do not care for the new style at all..i think that “mask” look on the lower front is ugly along with that “scrunched” hood (copied from the trailblazer) which makes the bow tie look out of sorts. i agree with Theophilus about the tail lights too….the 2019’s had a much better overall style to them….what a shame that GM ruined instead of improved the looks. At least they are suppose to have improved the seats !!
It looks like and econo box from the late 90’s…… Seriously this is a dud…
The original Volt had more style that this… it will be a hideous day when DemoRat Marxists force everyone, except themselves and their ruling class elite friends, to drive Trabant looking garbage like this… an EV for the peasants… then we shut off their power so they cant go anywhere unless we say so… no thanks…
I can care less about the looks. I will probably be getting a bolt in the next year, it’s just a matter of if it is this version, or a used. The deciding factor being if the EV credit/rebate is expanded to include chevy again. If it does I’m getting the cheapest bolt as my families second car, if not I’ll get a 2017/18.
Just because of fear of Battery life, I am more likely to pick up a 2017 Volt. I much prefer the plug in hybrid and most of them are coming off lease right now.
Hey chill out. I love my volt. Electric cars are the future ,not for any big conspiracy reasons.
No, it’s not the future if we stand up and take action. Shaming conservatives won’t win you any friends here.
I have a 2017 BoltEV and am mostly satisfied with it, front seat comfort not withstanding. Not impressed with the new one, but then I’m not impressed with the styling of the one I bought. I am very satisfied with everything else, so it’s not all a beauty contest. I bought it because it is supposed to be cheap to operate and that has proven true.
Ugly cars for ugly people? Is that the message? Looks like a Prius.
I own a volt and it saves me alot of money. I get 129 miles per gallon commuting on battery power but I can still go on roadtrios without worrying about charging it if I’m in an area with few options. I don’t really care too much about how the car looks as long as it lasts, is highly efficient, and is good on the freeway. If my car had a high range like the newer bolt, it wouldn’t be that hard to plan charging on a roadtrip route but we need more EVs that have the performance of gas trucks and SUVs. Then it will be easier to replace gas vehicles. I like how I can use a regular outlet for my volt.
I tried sitting in the backseat of a Kona just the other day and it was terrible. I wonder if the new Bolt has more leg room?
My 2013 Leaf has plenty of rear legroom. Why is it car designers don’t seem to worry about building a car that is able to seat a full size adult in the backseat?
I’m average height. With the drivers seat set for me, I can get in the back seat and have plenty of headroom, legroom and a comfortable place to put my feet in my 2017 BoltEV.
Thanks Mark. I’ll add the Bolt to my list of EVs to check out 👍
Why are they making them taller and taller!?!???? They have forgot small people! I have injuries to shoulders, imagine getting the snow on the top of the vehicule!
And, if they want to get maximum electric range they should lower the cars!
I got an amazing lease deal on a 2020 Bolt. I love it. When my lease ends, I will get another!
