Two rear-seat infotainment system packages offered in Chevy Blazer, Chevy Traverse, GMC Acadia, and Buick Enclave models are no longer available to order.
The packages in question are the Rear seat infotainment system without DVD player, tagged with RPO code SR2, and Rear seat infotainment system with DVD player, tagged with RPO code SR3.
Both packages were previously available as LPO-level accessories, or rather, delivered to and installed by the dealer. Both packages include the following content:
- Dual headrests with 8-inch screens
- Multiple inputs, including SD, USB, HDMI, as well as wireless connectivity to brought-in devices
- Remote control
- Two sets of two-channel wireless infrared headphones
- Available companion app to allow parental control of system
The Rear seat infotainment system without DVD player (SR2) was priced at $1,750, while the Rear seat infotainment system with DVD player (SR3) was priced at $1,995.
Both systems were previously optional on all trim levels of the Chevy Blazer, with the exception of the base-level L. What’s more, both systems were optional all trim levels of the Chevrolet Traverse, with the exception of the base-level L. As for the Buick Enclave, both systems were optional on all trim levels with the exception of the base-level Preferred.
Finally, only the Rear seat infotainment system with DVD player (SR3) was offered on the GMC Acadia, and was available on all trims with the exception of the base-level SL.
It should be noted that the Rear seat infotainment system with DVD player (SR3) system is still available on the GMC Acadia AT4 and GMC Acadia Denali trim levels, at least for now. However, the system is no longer available on the GMC Acadia SLE and SLT.

Why did GM even make vehicles hotspots? I get people use phones and tablets but, like AWD, it should ne available.
Margins matter but these cheapie decisions will make GM more unimpressive than ever
Ok, I get it. They want you to “upgrade” to the big T1s instead of the CUVs but it’s a risky way of doing things. If I want a Tahoe I’ll get one instead of being forced into one by de-content the Traverse or force you into a Blazer by short changing the Equinox. Let the buyers decide.
If you look around these screens are very rare options in the lower models. Most kids have an I pad to begin with and or a phone.
These systems are over price limited use items. Technology hat taken up to where each can have a screen with our own content.
The I pad pro is coming with mini led screens that will shame what GM is using.
As for trying to get people to spend more money on better models that is how the industry as a whole has worked for a century. Nice you just noticed.
Note too they don’t just try to get people to buy a better model but also try to get prices lower on the value leaders to be more competitive. The market volume is the mid priced value leaders not the high end value models.
But there’s a lot of parents who don’t want their kids having iPads due to how much information they have on them and the fact that parents look like they’re bad parents when their kids constantly on them and having no awareness outside the iPad and GM can just simply develop a mini led screen. It shouldn’t be that hard since they just get them from supply chains and how good of a screen do you really need for your kid? They’re not going to notice unless you say something to them. The only place I’d expect something really good is in large luxury SUVs like the Escalade, Navigator, and Grand Wagoneer is because 1. You just payed a lot of money 2.there’s a higher possibility adults will be back there 3.you just kinda expect that for its price point. Please don’t give your kids iPads whatever you do. You’ll regret it because of their extreme emotional reactions, how dumb they look, and how you look like a bad parent in public. Just give them a book or toys or pop in a movie in the rear seat entertainment screen. At least wait until they’re 10 for gods sake! (Start out with a iPod not a iPad when they do come of age and you do see appropriate.) They do not need all that exposure at the age of 7. If anything I recommend getting them a Nintendo for video games since everything is very family friendly and very easily to control but discretely.
That in a Traverse and Blazer is a small percentage.
I have shopped this class and own one of the models and the system is rare in the lower end models and way over priced.
If they were making a lot of money on sales it would not be going away.
These factory entertainment systems are ridiculously overpriced, and, with the availability of better alternatives, are as useful as factory nav.
Unsurprisingly, buyers know a poor value when they see one, and don’t order accordingly.
I get that most kids have iPads now but for the parents who don’t want their kids to have iPads (as they should) GM should at least offer some form of entertainment to keep kids quiet which I feel like this decision could enough for people to go with the Honda Pilot, Ford Explorer or Ford Edge in result of having a rear seat entertainment screen or dvd/Blu-ray player.
What’s the point of spending$1800 dollars on a screen in rear seat that kids can’t watch movies on? Just spend the extra two grand…like on 50,000 plus dollar vehicle it’s really going to matter. Not only that my wife’s car came with a rear entertainment system we never use it. I could do without it let the kids enjoy the country side as you go on vacation or teach them by pointing things out on their drive to school…there is to much tech in a kids world now anyway, for my generation I had to wait until we got to watch TV or play video games…then again we also still had phones with cords attached to them. If you ask me I don’t regret my child hood one bit going outside to play and waiting for something made it that much more special everything is I want it not now mom and dad and you can’t even fool kids because they know where to get it!
Note that these were the dealer installed options. LPO listed options.
Let’s watch as this could be a factory option on these models now. Just because an option goes away does not mean it is gone.
Like the stories here of Granite Red going away a similar color is replacing it.
What are the kids gonna do without a video monitor in front of them all the time? Back when we were kids
in the 1800’s we would do things like talk to each other, make up games, or just watch the scenery go by.
As said stop making excuses for GM being cheap and forcing people to upgrade vehicles on this one. The big SUVs still offers rear seat entertainment as well as the Traverse’s competition, it shouldn’t be dropped.
