The GMC Yukon is only available as a five-door, but what would the full-size family SUV look like if it were offered as a GMC Jimmy-inspired two-door? That’s the pressing question that an amateur artist on Instagram has set out to answer with this T1 Yukon-based rendering.
This rendering appears to be based around a 2021 GMC Yukon in the off-road-focused AT4 trim level. The artist has chopped the two rear doors and shortened the wheelbase, giving it a GMC Jimmy-inspired look. The Jimmy treatment continues with the split rear side window, which is styled to look similar to the side dual-pane window that is integrated into the Jimmy’s rear removable hardtop roof.
“This is my edit of a current GMC Yukon into a two-door more rugged version, or could it be a GMC Jimmy?” the rendering artist asks. “Maybe if it was based on the GMC Sierra? Something about a full-sized 2 door SUV is just to me and wish they’d bring them back! Let me know what y’all think.”

The artist also gave this fictitious two-door GMC Yukon a pair of aftermarket beadlock off-road wheels, which are shod in a set of knobby off-road tires and hide a set of performance brakes with red-painted calipers.
The artist in question also tried to envision what this imaginary two-door GMC Yukon would look like with a two-tone white and yellow paint job. We really do like the look of this modern GMC Jimmy-style SUV, but we’re not sure if the two-tone paint is really working with this design. That said, we think it looks great in the single-tone Summit White exterior color.

It is very sharp and I’m sure that many of us GM faithful would love to have one; however, Barra’s GM only seems to love their CUV’s, as ~85-90% of their lineup consists of these cookie-cutter boredom machines.
GMC having something special at the brand would be great, the GMC Jimmy would do just that done right the rendering above needs to change the B pillars and the Tu- tone color is a no go
Another dumb rendering.
Toyota FJ looks much better than that one!
Here is the problem. While two doors look cool they are a pain to live with.
The reason they stopped making the Blazer was the Tahoe as sales plummeted when the 4 door Tahoe arrived.
Like the standard cab short bed is rare because no one buys them the same would happen here, Even at the other companies all the 2 door SUV models lived short lives and are gone, Even at Jeep the 4 doors outsell the 2 doors.
Hey I was a Blazer driver and when the Tahoe arrived I never though it would sell. I was totally wrong and it killed the Blazer.
Even the seats that hinged up and rocked forward was not much help for rear seat access,
I wish the market would support something like this but better looking but that market has gone away,
C8.R,
Love reading your responses and think there IS a Firebird soul in you, but sometimes I think you drink the MB and bean-counter Kool-Aid.
Must agree with the other commentators:
Roy – having something special at the (GMC) brand would be great, the GMC Jimmy would do just that.
Pete – if GM had a line in one of the few truck plants, that just built Reg cab short box pick ups, AND 2 door Jimmy’s and Tahoe’s. What an answer to a, I’m sure, a line of consumers that would buy them.
Infamous – It is very sharp and I’m sure that many of us GM faithful would love to have one.
Come-on C8… join the fun! 🙂
you are 100% correct on the death of the 2 door because of the 4 door version selling way more trucks by a long shot and the 2 door sales not only were low but getting worse and worse. the 90s with its “family mini van era” when it seemed like every family had mini van like my moms Metallic Purple Chrysler Town And Country with silver and gold alloy rims and the new AUTOMATIC DUAL SIDE sliding doors!!! if you remember those doors you know why that was a big deal. or the ford Windstar parents of super weird kids , Chevrolet Venture the parents of popular kids van, Plymouth Venture the parents of the kids who were quiet, then a 4×4 chevy Astro van for the family who did all the cool shit and parents bought then the best are everything. before them all was the one and only the holy grail of ugly cause of dads midlife crisis vans….. the 1990-1993 Pontiac Trans Sport!!!… and my Moms was metallic red! first engine I ever blew to the moon pretending I was Dale Earnhard in the parking lot and learned van engines didn’t rev to 11,000rpm….
sorry went off track there a bit. anyway point I’m trying to make is its not the 90s anymore. Its the age of the crossover SUV plus marriages lasting over 2 years are rare now and a 2 door Tahoe or blazer would sell just fine in my opinion,
all that said this thing is down right awesome I would buy one and I’m sure most other people would too so come on G.M. bring back the REAL Blazer & resurrect the beloved Jimmy GMC! maybe even consider a new Typhoon to blow the doors off those SRT8’s and track hawks….. we’ve waited long enough and the time has come, the right time too!
Just think, if GM had a line in one of the few truck plants, that just built Reg cab short box pick ups, AND 2 door Jimmy’s and Tahoes. What an answer to a, I’m sure, a line of consumers that would buy them. “Build them, and they will come.” Just a dream, I guess
B pillar looks silly. Square it off
Looks good. I had a 1985 K5 Blazer and Loved that vehicle. I would consider buying this. Wonder what the price tag will be?
No need to keep wondering or hoping gm (lower case now) will ever offer something like this again……Ford does! It’s called the Bronco, just like it was, back in the day.
No demand for a 2-door? Wrong! There is a pent up demand for a 2-door SUV (not CUV) and actual submitted “orders” for the new Bronco prove it. One list of about 2000 “actual submitted orders” (not maybe I’ll get one reservations) shows a take rate of over 38% for the 2-door.
gm? They do have the GMC Hummer SUT coming and a few folks will buy one of those expensive EV rigs.
gm
Fugly.
Toyota has a 2-door SUV, I do not know the name of it and they stop building it a few years ago BUT this truck has the highest resale value of all SUVs if anyone knows the name of it please state it. This SUV still fetches about the new price status for a 6-year-old truck. So YES, some younger generation of buyers love this look.
What you are trying to think of was theFJ cruiser.
I don’t have kids, my dog can ride in the back and my relatives can drive their own car so, with that said this would ride on trails better and haul more gear than my jeep. I have to say I’M DOWN LIKE CHARLIE BROWN! I dig it.
Again, the nostalgia craze is on an upswing. Yes the “new” Bronco, will sell. The preorders are out of site. Now if GM has any brains left in Corporate, lets see if they will notice that consumers, WILL buy such a rig. It’s been way to long, since GM has had any kind of a competition beater. Being a life long Chevy owner, it hurts to see the road GM has been on the last decade. It’s time to build stuff that REAL drivers would buy. Instead of building vehicles” they” say we need. Just look at Ford and FCA. Yeh, the wild builds have a small audience, but they still HAVE that part of the market, all to themselves. Come on GM, wake up!!!!!! “Build it, and they will come”.
Yuck.
The Blazers and Jimmys had removable roof shells. The solid roof pretty much obliterates all of what made them fun to drive and ride in. Give them the removable roof and you will get your line-up of buyers.
I think that would be an inexpensive answer to Ford’s Bronco. I don’t think it’s a direct response but it would make great for sales, as long as the price don’t reach $65 to 70 k
Jeez I just saw my 1st bronco in person, can you say bronco II it’s small and UGLY smugly I call it. If GM built this I’d buy it! but it HAS to stay full size!
You probably saw the Bronco SPORT, which is a smaller Ford Escape based CUV. The Bronco is not at dealers or in customer hands yet. The 1st production vehicles to dealers/ customers are not for several months yet. The only ones on public roads are a few pre-production test vehicles.
GM CAN do it. If they really wanted too!!!! The bean counters, only see electric in the future. The only problem, is the US power grid is so old and in such bad shape. It can’t keep up with demand now. Renewable still has a very long way to go. GM needs to think not only for the future, but how about right now? They are loosing sales to both FORD and FCA. Like I said before, the market is only so big for the neat stuff. But….GM isn’t even really trying. The Bison, the ZR2, etc, don’t come close to the Raptor or the TRX.And there doesn’t seem to be really, anything in the pipeline. And Hot Rod cars??? GM has nothing that even comes close to the Challenger. Yes , the profit margin may not be that great on the “TOYS”, but at least GM could TRY to keep loyal customers. ‘Nuff said.
Awesome looking. Get rid of the B pillar and put something under the hood that makes you want one.
I owned two 2 Door Tahoes a 94 and a 96. loved them and would buy again.
I like the looks of it, especially if it had a Trail Boss option. Growing up we had two Chevy Blazers, a 76 and an 80. Just the ticket for getting around in the tough ND winters. The fact is as was brought up, the sales of the 2 doors just fell off the map in the mid 90’s.. Would they come back if they built it? Maybe? I am curious if a hidden third door would help that, like the older extended cab pickups used to have? Getting into the back seat of those things was not very user friendly even as a kid. The hidden third door would keep the good look, and make it easier for loading the back seat. GM isn’t looking to build anything like this, I think we all know that. Fun to dream though.
I would get 1 in a heartbeat! That looks awesome. 🚙
Manuka love spell worked like miracle with the way and manner my husband change and started showing love instead of the divorce he was planning. I am just so happy that everything is in place for me now again. I would gladly recommend the manuka temple to any one going through marriage problems and want to put an end to it. email priest manuka. [ lovesolutiontemple1@ gmail. com ] was were I got the help to restore my marriage
GM needs this to compete with the Bronco/wrangler but it should have 18” wheels and more ground clearance. I’d buy a 2 door tahoe in a heartbeat
