The available Tri-Fold Hard Tonneau Cover for the Chevy Silverado 1500 is set to receive a slight redesign that will transform it into a quad-fold system.
According to sources familiar with Chevy’s plans, Tri-Fold Hard Tonneau Cover (RPO VOZ) will soon become a quad-fold cover, although it will keep the same RPO code. The tonneau cover will remain an LPO-level dealer-installed accessory and will also be lockable, just like the tri-fold version that it will replace. It’s not clear when the redesigned quad-fold tonneau will replace the tri-fold version in Chevy’s order books.
The Tri-Fold Hard Tonneau Cover for the Chevy Silverado 1500 is a $999 option for the truck and is available with trim levels in either the Standard Bed or the Short Bed configurations. It’s not clear if the price of the hard folding tonneau cover will change when it is re-introduced as a quad-fold product.
The Silverado is available with a number of other LPO-level tonneau covers in addition to the Tri-Fold Hard Tonneau, including a Soft Tri-Fold cover, Soft Roll-Up cover, Hard Rolling cover and a Retractable Aluminum Cover.
As we reported last month, the Tri-Fold Soft Tonneau Cover for the Chevy Silverado 1500 (RPO code 63B) is also not available to order at this time. It is unclear whether this will change for the remainder of the 2021 Chevy Silverado 1500’s lifespan.
Pricing for the 2021 Chevy Silverado 1500 starts at 4.3L LV3 V6 engine. Production of the truck takes place at the GM Fort Wayne Assembly in Fort Wayne, Indiana and GM Silao Assembly in Silao, Mexico.

I wonder if it still can fold all the way back to the rear window, and if it now rests on the window. With a 3 fold it rests on pads above the window, and with it folder back all the way you gain access to 95% of the bed. I suspect the 4 fold will not full open, it physically will be too thick to fold back on itself that extra panel. if it does fully open the panels are too short and will contact the window, not good.
It’s best to just get a BakFlip brand or similar tonneau anyways, better quality and better warranty. At the time my Bakflip FiberMax hard folding (3 panel) was 6 years old and the tailgate seam was starting to curl, after 3 pictures they sent me an entirely new (and updated model) tonneau cover. All they didnt replace was the mounting hardware and drainage rails
There should be less flapping in the wind, you will always find better and cheaper in the aftermarket.
I have a Gator FX trifold hard cover on my 2020 Silverado crew cab with short bed . It provides security, does not leak, and can either be folded or placed folded in an upright padded position against the back of the cab, supported with two rods allowing full bed access. It can easily be installed and cost is comparable to the Chevy option. I am well pleased with this tonneau cover.
Yea it’s better to go aftermarket
