General Motors just launched the new 2021 Chevrolet Groove in Ecuador, expanding the reach of Chevrolet‘s smallest crossover in South America, where the model made its world debut in October 2020. After several months of validation testing and logistics preparations, the automaker introduces the new Groove with the objective of leading the growing utility segment in the Ecuadorian market.
Ecuador notably becomes the third country to receive the all-new 2021 Chevrolet Groove after its launch in Chile and Peru late last year. With the new Groove, derived from the successful Chinese-market Baojun 510, Chevrolet expands its broad utility vehicle portfolio to meet the new preferences of entry-level vehicle customers in South America and other underdeveloped regions of the world.
“The all-new Groove innovates because it offers everything that the consumer really appreciates, without restrictions. It is an ideal compact SUV for young professionals and small families,” said Chevrolet Marketing Manager in Ecuador, Oswaldo LeĂ³n, in a press release. “The arrival of this model will also be key to exceeding market expectations with a great combination of price and quality,” he added.
As in the other two South American markets where it was initially introduced, the 2021 Chevrolet Groove arrives in Ecuador in two trim levels, LT and Premier. Both are packed with an outstanding level of standard features that make it the most comprehensive entry-level utility on the market, including four airbags, stability and traction control, as well as an 8-inch infotainment touchscreen screen.
The Premier trim adds power-adjustable leather-trimmed seats, automatic climate control, an engine start button, cruise control, a panoramic sunroof and a full LED lighting system. On a mechanical level, the two versions of the 2021 Groove are equipped with the 1.5L naturally aspirated engine that generates 110 horsepower and 108 pound-feet of torque, mated exclusively to a six-speed manual transmission.
The 2021 Chevrolet Groove is now available in the Ecuadorian market, where it will seek to become the best-selling crossover and strengthen Chevrolet’s sales leadership in the South American country. Thanks to its design, equipment levels and affordable pricing, the new Groove is an ideal alternative for young customers looking for their first SUV. Vehicle prices in Ecuador are as follows:
- 2021 Groove LT: $22,990 USD (the country’s official currency)
- 2021 Groove Premier: $24,990 USD

GM seems to be in the Groove everywhere but the USofA and Canada!
Very good point Barry. I have a Trailblazer, but if this were in US dealerships and at the one I shopped, I would’ve had this instead. It’s a good looking compact for sure. Would’ve been cheaper too.
