Last September, GM Authority was first to report that the 2022 Chevy Bolt EV refresh will get a revised trim level structure. Now that the 2022 Chevy Bolt EV has officially made its debut, the new trim level hierarchy has been officially confirmed.
2017-2021 Bolt EV | 2022 Bolt EV | |
---|---|---|
Base model | LT (2LT) | 1LT |
Up-level model | Premier (2LZ) | 2LT |
Until now, the Bolt EV has been offered in two trims: a base trim called LT and an up-level trim called Premier. The 2022 Chevy Bolt EV is replacing these with 1LT and 2LT, respectively. For the most part, the features and equipment contained in each trim level will essentially be the same as before.
The updated 2022 Chevy Bolt EV will launch this summer alongside its larger sibling – the all-new Chevy Bolt EUV, which will be offered in LT and Premier trims. The difference in the trim level structures between the EV and EUV is deliberate, and is intended to differentiate between the two vehicles, as confirmed to GM Authority by Jesse Ortega, who serves as chief engineer for both models.
As for the 2022 Chevrolet Bolt EV refresh, the mid-cycle enhancement (MCE) consists of new front and rear fascias as well as a thorough revamp of the cockpit, including the addition of new seats. These changes were scheduled to be introduced for the 2021 model year, but were delayed due to complications arising from the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Bolt EUV is mechanically similar to the Bolt EV. Both will be built at the GM Lake Orion plant in Michigan on the same EV-specific GM BEV2 platform, and will use the same lithium-ion battery pack and permanent magnetic drive motor, which is rated at 200 horsepower and 266 pound-feet of torque.
In addition to looking different thanks to different body panels, the Bolt EUV will be 6.3 inches longer. As reported in our recent dimensional comparison, this is partly accounted for by greater overhangs, but also by a wheelbase that’s been stretched by 2.9 inches. The most obvious benefit is an increase in second row legroom, which is greater than that of the Bolt EV by 3.1 inches.

Still boggles the mind how chevy could add 6 inches to the EUV and no increase in cargo room.
No AWD option is disappointing.
