The 2021 Buick Envision offers countless improvements over the first-generation model that it replaces, including a sophisticated new E2 platform, all-new exterior styling, a redesigned cabin and new technologies.
The 2021 Buick Envision also offers fuel efficiency improvements over the first-gen model, too. With a new standard turbocharged 2.0L I4 LSY gasoline engine and front-wheel drive, the 2021 Envision has an EPA-estimated fuel economy rating of 24 mpg city, 31 mpg highway and 26 mpg combined. Meanwhile, models with all-wheel drive are rated at 22 mpg city, 29 mpg highway and 25 mpg combined.
First-generation Buick Envision models, by comparison, came equipped with a naturally aspirated 2.5L I4 LCV gasoline engine and front-wheel drive. For 2020, this combination carried an EPA-estimated fuel economy rating of 22 mpg city, 29 mpg highway and 25 mpg combined. Models with the 2.5L engine and AWD were rated at 21 mpg city, 27 mpg highway and 24 mpg combined.
The available turbocharged 2.0L I4 LTG engine in the 2020 Buick Envision was rated at 20 mpg city, 25 mpg highway and 22 mpg combined. This engine was only offered with all-wheel drive in the crossover.

The new 2021 Buick Envision is much more efficient than the model it replaces, then, able to achieve more than 30 mpg on the highway when equipped with FWD. Impressively, the AWD version of the crossover is equally as efficient as the FWD version of the outgoing model. These fuel economy gains can be at least partially attributed to the new 2.0L LSY engine, along with the standard GM nine-speed automatic transmission.
The 2021 Buick Envision began arriving at U.S. dealerships late last year. Pricing for the crossover starts at $32,995 for the entry-level Preferred trim level including destination. Production takes place at the GM China (SAIC) Jinqiao plant in Shanghai, China.
