1970 Chevy Chevelle Custom Headed To Auction: Video

This 1970 Chevy Chevelle has been the subject of a frame-off, rotisserie restoration and modification. The exterior has been treated to comprehensive preparation for a glossy coat of stark white paint accented by black SS stripes on the hood and trunk. AeroCatch flush-mount hood pins have been added. Front and rear bumpers have been powder coated in the same shade of white. Black LED headlights are complemented by blacked-out taillights. Side and rear windows have been deeply tinted. Polished American Racing Torq Thrust wheels are staggered, with 18-inchers in front and 20s in back. Through the wheels, gloss black Wilwood brake calipers do their work on cross-drilled rotors.

Under the Chevy Chevelle’s hood resides a 402 cubic-inch Big Block featuring aluminum heads, Edelbrock aluminum intake, and a Quik Fuel carb. The big V8 breathes through a K&N air cleaner. Valve covers are painted black, as are the Ringbrothers billet hood hinges, serpentine belt drive bracket, and Wilwood brake booster lid. Ceramic coated headers move exhaust gasses to a 2.5-inch exhaust, exiting through Pringle-can sized polished exhaust tips that exit just aft of the rear wheels. The Big Block is backed by a three-speed Turbo-Hydramatic automatic transmission.

Keeping the Chevy Chevelle well planted is an upper and lower tubular A-arm arrangement in front, with heavy-duty anti-sway bars both front and rear.

The SS theme is carried over in the interior of this Chevy Chevelle, with SS badging on the door panels and leather-wrapped custom billet steering wheel. The bench seat, door panels, and dash have all been treated to new factory black vinyl. Clayton Machine Works supplied the polished custom billet door handles and window cranks. Vintage Air keeps the cabin temps regulated, and Dakota Digital gauges let the driver know what is happening. Fresh black carpets are protected by factory Chevy Chevelle rubber mats. A Classic Sounds Bluetooth head unit pumps tunes through Rockford Fosgate speakers. A Rockford Fosgate amp and twin 10-inch subwoofers are located in the leather lined trunk.

This Chevy Chevelle restomod will be up for grabs at the Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale, Arizona auction, March 20th-27th.

  1. Nice car; a good blend of old-school and new tech. The punched-out 396 was a nice surprise. And while I’m not generally a fan of 20 inch wheels on ’60s-’70s-era muscle cars, the fact that these are TT Americans gets the builder a pass.

  4. So true, others would not fare quite so well. But, Mary knows best what we want. Buy stock in electric. Hear it’s booming. I loved this model Chevelle. Best they ever had, in my opinion. Don’t really care for the low, no rubber tires, put some meats on it. They ride much better. Yeah, old school.
