In 1968, the Chevy Nova received a complete redesign from its previous, smaller stature. Its wheelbase grew to 111 inches, and overall length for the coupe was just shy of the larger Chevelle. For the 1972 model year, the Nova saw only minor trim changes from the year before. Only 12,309 Super Sport coupes left the factory in 1972, out of a total production numbering 349,733.
Our featured Chevy Nova is one of the 12,309 Super Sports. It is finished in bright red with a black vinyl roof. Under the hood is a recently rebuilt 350 cubic-inch V8, backed by a Turbo Hydramatic 350 automatic transmission. It has a 10-bolt rear end with 3.55 gears. This Chevy Nova is equipped with power steering and power disc brakes.
This Chevy Nova’s bright red finish is glossy and without any noticeable flaws. Chrome bumpers and trim present well, likely having been re-plated. No pitting is noted. Stainless trim is well polished, free from dents or dings. Five-spoke SS wheels wear red stripe radials that appear to have deep tread on all four corners. The vinyl top is colorfast, with no sign of fading or lifting. Glass and weatherstrip look to be in good condition, possibly recent.
The black vinyl interior on this Chevy Nova looks fresh. Bucket seats show no appreciable wear, with no rub marks at the outside bolsters, nor is there any wrinkling on the seat bottoms. The carpet is a deep black. A more modern console has been installed between the seats, with an armrest and cupholders. The headliner also appears recent. The roof interior light lens is missing.
The trunk has been finished in black crinkle paint. The center section of the floor has a black rubber mat. There is a full-size spare present with proper cover.
The tidy engine bay houses the aforementioned 350 V8, topped by a chrome Edelbrock air cleaner assembly, and presumably an Edelbrock four-barrel carb. The valve covers are chrome Chevrolet units. Factory crayon marks can be seen on the firewall.
This slick Chevy Nova is available from Gateway Classic Cars Houston, and is currently priced at $45,000.

Now that’s a car, always liked these Nova’s. One guy in high school had one, every now and then he’d smoke the tires for us. Some guys had all the luck. I was in 64 Impala.
Nice car. My first cars were Nova’s. The only thing I see wrong are the front fenders. Louvers were only available on 68 thru 70 models. Discontinued for 71 and 72. I had a 70 with the louvers and my brothers 71 had no louvers
