Automotive passion comes in all shapes and sizes, and as time wears on, a broader variety of vehicles enter the fold. Now, in the interest of drawing a younger audience and expanding its lineup, Goodguys Rod & Custom Association has announced that OBS (Original Body Style, or Old Body Style) GM pickups are now invited to the LMC Truck Spring Lone Star Nationals event in Fort Worth, Texas.
For those who may be unaware, Goodguys Rod & Custom Association has been around since the ‘80s, organizing enormous events catering to some of the finest hot rods, custom cars, and show cars around.
The upcoming LMC Tuck Lone Star Nationals is no different, offering enthusiasts a chance to cruise a race track, participate in a truck-only autocross event, and sparkle and shine in the car show. Previously, Goodguys only allowed vehicles built prior to 1987 to compete and go on display, but now, the organization is opening it up to OBS GM pickups as well.
“‘OBS’ body style trucks are Chevrolet and GMC trucks built between 1988 and 1998,” Goodguys explains. “Because of their affordability and robust aftermarket support, OBS trucks have grown in popularity over the years with an enthusiastic and active community. Always seeking to be inclusive, Goodguys saw this as an opportunity to begin allowing the late model trucks into its classic car and truck events.”
“We always want to keep up with what enthusiasts are passionate about, and right now, nothing is hotter than OBS trucks,” said Goodguys VP of Event Operations, Harry Daviess. “Goodguys events are about inclusivity – this is a great way to begin welcoming a younger generation of enthusiast.”
Interested enthusiasts can catch the GM pickups at the LMC Tuck Lone Star Nationals, scheduled to take place next month, March 12th through the 14th, at the Texas Motor Speedway in Ft. Worth, Texas. In addition to a track cruise, autocross event, and car show, the event will also feature over 100 vendor and commercial exhibits, a swap meet, a vintage dragster exhibition, and live entertainment.
