GM Canada has partnered with car dealership software experts at SnapCell to offer live video streaming solutions to its 400-plus dealership storefronts nationwide.
SnapCell offers a range of video-based dealership solutions, such as online chat, live streaming, 360-degree spin vehicle displays, personable pre-recorded walkaround videos and virtual test drives. The company also has software that allows dealership service technicians to create service videos for training or customer information purposes.
GM Canada worked closely with SnapCell to develop a new chat tool that allows dealers to easily interact with customers via its webpage. SnapCell services are also available in French and the company offers the support of a French-speaking trainer for dealerships and customers across Canada.
“We’re thrilled to be working with such a forward-thinking and globally responsible brand,” said SnapCell founder and CEO Brent Williams. “Due to a number of factors, more and more consumers are looking to buy their next car from the comfort of their own home. The team is excited to support GM in becoming a part of that journey and we look forward to sharing SnapCell and its benefits with the individual dealers.”
Automakers have been looking for ways to increase the number of sales leads they generate from online interactions amid the COVID-19 pandemic, which has forced many dealerships to temporarily close their storefronts and operate at limited in-person capacities. GM Canada was the first to launch the automaker’s Cadillac Live online shopping tool back in 2019, which proved important for generating sales leads at the height of the pandemic in early 2020. Parent company General Motors has since adopted Cadillac Live for itself and is currently in the midst of implementing a similar live-streaming-based customer outreach service for Chevy called Chevy MyWay.
The automaker is also investing more in its Shop. Click. Drive. tool, which helps customers search for vehicles in dealership inventories near their zip code that fit their specific criteria.
SnapCell’s online sales tools are “proven to increase lead conversions, service up-sells and overall dealership revenue,” the company says. GM Canada’s partnership with the company will launch this month, with dealers set to receive full access to the SnapCell support team after the launch via the GM Digital Consultant tool.
