Competitive Sales Comparison (U.S.)
Chevy Blazer sales grew slightly during the fourth quarter of 2020, increasing 1 percent in the U.S. market. The increase is all the more impressive given the negative effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. The slight increase this quarter follows the notable sales improvement in Q3 and similar growth during the second quarter of 2020, despite a very tight supply.
When compared to its expanded segment, the Camaro-inspired crossover fell to tenth place during Q4. It was outsold by the Toyota Highlander, Ford Explorer, Jeep Grand Cherokee, the Blazer’s larger stablemate – the Chevrolet Traverse, Honda Pilot, Ford Edge, Volkswagen Atlas, Hyundai Santa Fe, and the Kia Telluride.

On a segment share basis, the Blazer accounted for a 4 percent segment share, well behind the 13 percent share held by the segment-leading Toyota Highlander and 12 percent held by the Ford Explorer. The Jeep Grand Cherokee accounted for 10 percent followed by the Chevrolet Traverse with 7 percent. The Honda Pilot, Ford Edge, and Volkswagen Atlas all held 6 percent with the Hyundai Santa Fe and Kia Telluride following close behind with 5 percent each.
The mainstream mid- and full-size crossover segments, comprised of CUVs with a starting price in the vicinity of $30,000, expanded nearly 7.5 percent to 561,270 units in Q4 2020, meaning that Blazer sales underperformed the segment average.
Narrowing down the segment to only midsize crossovers with two rows of seating like the Blazer, the Blazer came in fourth place. It was outsold by the Jeep Grand Cherokee (by nearly 34,000 units), Ford Edge (by roughly 9,000 units), and Hyundai Santa Fe (by approximately 7,000 units). The Blazer’s share of the midsize, two-row CUV segment remained steady at 13 percent compared to the year-ago quarter.
The mainstream mid-size, two-row crossover segment expanded less than 1 percent to 179,237 units during the fourth quarter of 2020. In this case, Blazer sales narrowly outpaced the segment average.
The GM Authority Take
Chevy Blazer sales faced a multitude of headwinds during the fourth quarter of 2020, including hindered availability caused by the idling of GM North America production due to COVID-19. Blazer production at the GM Ramos Arizpe plant in Mexico stopped in March and resumed in late May. Supply continues to be tight, running at a mere 28 days as of the beginning of January.
Even so, The Blazer managed to beat the odds by posting an impressive sales performance. Not only did the Blazer gain sales volume on an annual basis, but the midsize CUV also held its 4 percent market share.
Going forward, we believe that Chevrolet’s new midsize crossover will continue to find success, with sales volume keeping steady or growing, as supply permits.

Jeep is better, less expensive and made in the USA.
No reason for anyone to buy a foreign GM vehicle.
Give this a thumbs down if you hate America and it’s workforce.
If you dare to look at the content sticker, hard to be too upset with 50% NA content. Yet some still try to get outraged.
American Taxpayer
Jeep is now owned by the Europeans. Europeans are the world’s parasites. Draining resources from the rest of the world so they could enjoy their overpriced wine & Cheese. History teaches us to kick out the Europeans.
That may be true. Lol.
But as much as I can control, my money will go to products made in the USA. That money will eventually go to American workers.
Much better to support American workers than to support gM foreign workforce and that greedy old bat Mary Barry.
FCA bribed UAW officials to negotiate lower for Chrysler workers. Now they’re bringing in Carlos Traverse. If he does what he did at Opel there will be lay offs in Auburn Hills. Models discontinued and factories shut down.
Love ❤️ American workforce, GM, and Ford, respectfully, make the best motor vehicles on the road today, being a Puerto Rican American, I have always bought GM & Ford products, period.!!!,👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇸🇵🇷💫…
