Blackout Package On 2021 Chevrolet Traverse Currently Unavailable

The Blackout Package offered on the 2021 Chevrolet Traverse full-size four-door crossover utility vehicle (CUV) is currently unavailable due to supplier constraints.

The 2021 Chevrolet Traverse Blackout Package is tagged with RPO code PDB, and was previously offered as an LPO-level (installed by the dealer) option at a cost of $1,185.

The package includes (relevant RPO code listed in parentheses):

  • Black finish grille (SJ9)
  • Front and rear Black bow tie emblems (SFZ)
  • Black rear license plate applique (RXX)
  • Gloss Black emblem kit (RIK)

The Chevrolet Traverse Blackout package was previously offered on LT Cloth, LT Leather, and Premium trim levels.

As a reminder, the 2021 Chevrolet Traverse was originally expected to introduce a refresh for the Traverse nameplate. However, due to complications stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic, the refresh was delayed to the 2022 model year instead.

As such, the current 2021 Traverse is the fourth model year of the second-generation vehicle. Updates over the previous 2020 model year include the deletion of two exterior colors, the addition of a three-button universal garage door opener, and deletion of the automatic locking rear, twin-clutch differential (G99).

Under the hood, the 2021 Chevrolet Traverse features the naturally aspirated 3.6L V6 LFY gasoline engine, which produces 310 horsepower and 266 pound-feet of torque, and connects to a nine-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard, while all-wheel drive is an optional extra.

Under the skin, the Traverse rides on the long-wheelbase variant of the GM C1 platform, while the cabin space features three rows of seating for passengers. Production takes place at the GM Lansing Delta Township plant in Michigan. Trim levels include the L, LS, LT Cloth, LT Leather, RS, Premier, and range-topping High Country, with pricing starting at $30,995 (including destination) for a base-level L model with front-wheel drive.

  1. Same old built in excuse supplier constraints. GM suppliers need to honor there contracts or GM should go back to making options in house like they used to.

  2. SUPPLIER CONSTRAINTS— This phrase is irritating the hell out of me. GM needs to get its marketing, ordering, sales, engineering, Presidents, vice presidents, managers, up and out there straightening this out. This is what they are paid the big bucks to do. Stop passing the buck down to the buyers of your products. We accepted this phrase for 6 months, its time to get past this.

  3. Jeez, who is GMs supplier? Pfizer? The vaccine is more available than GM options. What is so hard about molding black plastic instead of chrome or body color? GM may want to revisit some of these suppliers, you can’t sell what yiu cannot build and GM needs the sales if they want to preserve what’s left of their eroding market share.
