The upcoming 2022 GMC Hummer EV was recently spotted pulling into real-world traffic, providing an interesting point of comparison for the all-new battery-powered off-roader against “regular cars” in the Metro Detroit area.
The 2022 GMC Hummer EV seen in the new photos isn’t outfitted in full production-spec. Rather, it’s missing a variety of trim pieces, with the fender liners and lower rocker panels missing. The front and rear ends also are equipped with non-production spec lighting pieces, all of which suggest GM was using this vehicle for real-world testing purposes.
As we can see from the photos, the 2022 GMC Hummer EV is not a small vehicle, with a wheelbase that stretches across an entire lane as it maneuvers out into traffic. The view also provides us with a clear view of the Hummer’s proportions, with the hood line and bed section bookending the four-door cab nicely.
As for more exact measurements, we already know quite a few. For starters, the 2022 GMC Hummer EV has a 135.6-inch wheelbase, and an overall length of 216.8 inches, while overall width is measured at 86.7 inches without the sideview mirrors, and 93.7 inches with the sideview mirrors. Track width in front and in back is 73.3 inches.
GM has yet to confirm the GMC Hummer EV’s overall height, but judging by pictures of the vehicle alongside the all-new 2021 Chevy Tahoe full-size SUV, the Hummer as slightly shorter than the Tahoe, the latter of which is 75.9 inches in height.
That said, it bears remembering that the Hummer and Tahoe both feature Air Ride Adaptive Suspension. Onboard the 2022 GMC Hummer EV, this feature can adjust ride height by as much as six inches, while the feature offers four inches of ride-height adjustment on the Tahoe.
The 2022 GMC Hummer EV will start rolling off the line at the GM Factory Zero production facility (formerly known as GM Detroit-Hamtramck) in the fall.

Big beast.
But she can dance
Just when most people thought the Introductory Commercial was nothing more than a “Hype-Tactic” with no real product in sight.
This is going to be something else. I think it will shock a lot of folks once it gets to the dealers.
Electric vehicle will “shock” a lot of people. lol
I like the fact that the Hummer looks and actually is, futuristic yet clearly clings to the familiar styling cues the vehicle is known for. I don’t want a weirded out Mad Max machine. I just hope the economy is allowed to remain strong enough to support it.
The fact that the brand was gone for 10 years, yet GM Design made it look like such a natural design progression as if the brand had never left, is an incredible feat.
The performance on and off road is rightly praised, but the design gets almost no credit. If someone asked you 10 years ago what the Hummer look would evolve into by 2020, this is exactly what most would envision. Excellent work, GM!
I just found out that my Dealership here in Columbus, GA. will not be getting the Himmer EV1 because they don’t want to pay the high Price Tag for the conversion process, but eventually; overtime after it’s innitial introduction, the Dealership will have no choice but to give in or fold because the GMC SIerra will follow suite in the foreseeable future.
You’re right about HUMMER H1 but it’s Military uncle, the HUMVEE
has been around all along. Same parents.
;Memories of my H1 without the noise level. Very Cool!
Can’t wait to see it in my driveway!. I only wish that the SUV version came out first. I wonder if they will trade a reservation for a 1st edition for an SUV reservation.
