Six of the eight assist steps normally offered for the 2021 Chevy Silverado 1500 pickup truck are no longer available to order, GM Authority has learned.

The table above shows all of the assist steps listed for the 2021 Chevy Silverado 1500. The factory-installed Power-Retractable Assist Steps With Rearward Articulation (RPO code BRS) and the Chrome Wheel To Wheel Assist Steps (BVT) are not affected by the supply issue, and can therefore be ordered as normal.
However, Chevrolet dealers are now unable to place orders for any of the LPO, or dealer-installed, assist steps, with one exception. The four-inch round Black Tubular Assist Steps (RVS) can still be ordered, but only as part of the Rally Edition Package (STH). The package also includes 20-inch High gloss Black painted aluminum wheels, a Chevytec spray-on bedliner and a Black Chrome exhaust tip, and is priced at $2,415.
Until the end of October 2020, the same steps were also part of the $1,265 Midnight Edition Package. Customer who requested the package before then will still receive the steps.
The other dealer-fitted steps are not currently available under any circumstances. Nor are the Assist Step and Tonneau Value Package I (PDW) or Assist Step and Tonneau Value Package II (PDR). As their names imply, they depend strongly on the assist steps. Without those, both packages would consist only of optional tonneau covers, which are already available as standalone accessories.
It is not yet clear whether all – or any – of the temporarily discontinued assist steps for the Chevy Silverado 1500 will return before the end of the 2021 model year. Assist steps are still offered for the 2021 Chevy Silverado 2500HD and 2021 Chevy Silverado 3500HD, but this may not be the case for much longer.

there are steps available in the aftermarket that you will like better and at a lower cost
How’s that gonna help dealers offset losses from EVs that need no maintenance?
they will still make plenty with electrical problems and when they age battery’s and motor assembles
I own a 2021 Silverado LTZ, my driver’s side assist step needs a part. The rear switch on the assist step broke off when I hit a raccoon. The part number I have is #8426-6749 but it states that this part is not for my year. I figured that it was just a carry over part so that it should work, can anyone confirm this for me before I order? Thank you in advance.
