Ten months after the official launch of the new Cadillac CT4 in China in April last year, General Motors has just expanded the compact sedan lineup with a new variant for the second model year of the CT4 made in the Asian country. In addition, the company officially introduced the 2021 Cadillac CT4 range in the world’s largest automotive market.
The main novelty of the 2021 Cadillac CT4 in the Chinese market is a new version called Luxury Fashion Edition, positioned between the entry-level Luxury and the range-topping Sport. Although SAIC-GM did not disclose specific images, the joint venture claims that this new configuration of the CT4 adopts a “fashionable” design and is equipped with more comfort features such as heated front seats.
The addition of the Luxury Fashion Edition to the 2021 Cadillac CT4 range will further meet the diversified needs of the new generation of consumers in China – which is the main volume market for both Cadillac and its entire lineup of sedans. To do this, the brand tweaked the new variant’s appearance, interior design and technology content.
Specifically, the new 2021 Cadillac CT4 Luxury Fashion Edition introduces elegant and refined styling to the luxury brand’s entry-level sedan range in China, with features similar to those of the Premium Luxury trim level in North America. The main distinctions from the existing trim levels are the adoption of a bright front grille and chrome accents on various parts of the body.
All versions of the 2021 Cadillac CT4 for the Chinese market, manufactured locally at the SAIC-GM Jinqiao plant, are equipped with the turbocharged 2.0L LSY I-4 engine generating a maximum output of 237 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. The eighth-generation Ecotec engine is mated exclusively to an eight-speed automatic transmission, making up the only powertrain combination of the model in China.
The new 2021 Cadillac CT4 lineup is now available throughout the luxury brand’s dealer network in China, where the sedan’s sales have gradually increased since its introduction last year. The CT4 notably is the only compact rear-wheel-drive sedan in that market, it has an expressive design and is aimed at a more enthusiastic driving audience. Suggested pricing is as follows:
- 2021 CT4 Luxury: 239,700 CNY ($36,980 USD, at the current exchange rate)
- 2021 CT4 Luxury Fashion Edition: 251,700 CNY ($38,880 USD)
- 2021 CT4 Sport: 259,700 CNY ($40,120 USD)

Weird idea. They should have had a Premium Lux from the start.
