Updated 2021 Chevrolet Spin Arrives In Argentina

Seven months after the official launch of the updated MPV in the Brazilian market, General Motors has just introduced the 2021 Chevrolet Spin in Argentina – the second largest automotive market in South America. The 10th model year of the Spin comes to the Argentine market with important safety feature improvements and minor styling changes, while remaining the most affordable and most popular seven-passenger vehicle in the country.

Specifically, the highlight of the 2021 Chevrolet Spin is that all versions of the multipurpose vehicle now come standard with stability and traction control, a significant improvement that addresses one of the model’s main weak points: safety. As such, it’s the first time these systems are available on the Spin in Argentina since its regional debut in 2012.

The safety feature upgrades on the 2021 Chevrolet Spin also include the addition of Hill Start Assist, which is very useful when pulling away from uphill traffic lights, as well as the rear seat-belt warning so the driver can be assured that everyone in the rear seating area is buckled up. In addition, the range-topping variants of the 2021 Spin add cruise control and a speed limiter.

Unlike the four model trim levels available in Brazil which gets an entry-level LS, the 2021 Chevrolet Spin hits the Argentine market with in LT (5-seat only), Premier and Activ trim. With the new 2021 model year, the rugged looking Activ adds a black Chevrolet logo and a darkened overall finish on various parts of the body, further differentiating itself from the other variants.

Mechanically, the 2021 Chevrolet Spin retains the same naturally aspirated 1.8L four-cylinder engine that produces 111 horsepower and 128 pound-feet of torque. The only novelty about the powertrain is that the engine can now be mated to GM’s newer six-speed automatic transmission that equips the new-generation Onix and all-new Tracker, or a six-speed manual.

The 2021 Chevrolet Spin is now available in the entire Bow Tie brand dealership network in Argentina, where it is offered with a 3-year/100,000-kilometer (whichever comes first) warranty and a total of five body colors: Summit White, Switchblade Silver, Sun of a Gun Gray, Meet Kettle Black and Darkmoon Blue. The vehicle is packed with a wide array of convenience and technology features, especially the Premier and Activ trims.

The suggested prices the three 2021 Spin variants in the Argentine market are as follows:

  • 2021 Spin LT: 1,701,900 ARS (about $19,520 USD at the current exchange rate)
  • 2021 Spin Premier: 1,859,900 ARS ($21,330 USD)
  • 2021 Spin Activ: 2,015,900 ARS ($23,120 USD)

  1. And I thought, the Spin is dead…

After it did not have the expected success as the rival to the Toyota Avanza (aka Daihatsu Xenia) in South Africa or Indonesia, where a whole factory was prepared for the Spin.

But no, it is alive and kicking.

    1. It is the only family model available on the market that still has a relatively competitive price, despite the obsolete design in the face of new products.
The current generation must be withdrawn from production in brave. GM has already announced a new investment in Brazil to build 2 new models based on the GEM platform, which according to some media, will be the successor of Spin and a pick-up that will compete with Toro, Duster Oroch and probably Tarok.
