After completing its first year of sale in the world’s largest auto market, the new Cadillac CT5 enters its second model year in China, where the midsize sedan achieves its highest sales volume. General Motors just launched the 2021 Cadillac CT5 range to capitalize on the growing popularity of the model among luxury-minded customers in the Asian country, which registered a new sales record in December.
SAIC-GM, the automaker’s main joint venture in China, announced that in the last month of 2020 alone, it sold 6,481 units of the Cadillac CT5. This figure represents the highest sales total that the CT5 has recorded in the Chinese market since its local launch in late 2019, selling almost four times more than the average 1,712 units per month delivered during the fourth quarter of 2020 in the United States.
Building on this significant momentum, the company is introducing a bunch of enhancements to the 2021 Cadillac CT5 for the Chinese market, which is manufactured at the Cadillac Jinqiao plant, to strengthen its competitiveness and keep it current in the highly contested luxury sedan D-segment. The new features of the 2021 CT5 focus mainly on its technology and connectivity content.
Like the North American model, the 2021 Cadillac CT5 arrives in China with a next-generation technology package. This includes the latest iteration of the Cadillac User Experience infotainment system, with support for wireless Apple CarPlay and Android-based local services, as well as a new fully digital, 12-inch LCD driver instrument panel.
These changes, couples with the benefits of the innovative Global B electronic architecture and OnStar’s advanced connectivity services, make the 2021 Cadillac CT5 one of the most technologically comprehensive models in its class. And unlike all its main rivals in the segment, the CT5 includes them as standard in the Premium Luxury and Sport trim levels.
The 2021 Cadillac CT5 is now available across the brand’s entire network of official dealerships in China, with a total of six variants to meet the needs of a wide and diverse range of customers. As with each of the brand’s models in the country, all versions of the 2021 CT5 are equipped with the turbocharged 2.0L LSY inline-four engine, producing 237 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque.
The starting prices for the 2021 Cadillac CT5 in the Chinese market are as follows:
- 2021 CT5: 279,700 CNY (about $43,180 USD at current exchange rate)
- 2021 CT5 Luxury: 289,700 CNY ($44,730 USD)
- 2021 CT5 Premium Luxury: 294,700 CNY ($45,490 USD)
- 2021 CT5 Sport: 299,700 CNY ($46,270 USD)

too bad they didn’t update that silly “C” pillar…makes it look like a Honda
Finally, a nice fully Digital Gauge Cluster in a Cadillac
Yep, help America’s enemies build factories which could be converted to build military hardware. Good job Mary.
I didn’t realize we’re now blaming Mary Barra for decades of manufacturing moving to China. What will she be blamed for next week, Covid-19?
Just the product she is supposed to represent and where it is built. GM didn’t get huge because Chinese men and women sacrificed their lives so GM could exist. I believe those were Americans. Can’t imagine setting up an enemy with production technology while they are killing people all over the globe without repercussions.
Maybe you should storm the Capitol, since you are clearly insane.
China isn’t an enemy you goon.
China is not the enemy you goon? Is that you Biden? You are so ignorant of geo politics it is quite pathetic. China has master plans laid out to rule the world which are already in place. When the Nazis goose stepped down the streets of Paris, you would be the first to say – they are not the enemy, let me join.
And yet you are speaking just like the Nazis right now, past and present. Replace China with Jews, and there you go. Theres a reason why modern day nazis are on your side, saying the same things.
Also I didn’t vote for Biden because I’m not a republican. Biden sure is though.
MMMMMMMMM, let’s see, China just released a deadly plague on the world which has killed some 365 thousand Americans and put other Americans in the poor house because they had to shutter their businesses. The damage China has caused America is unbelievable. Look at the Twin Towers and how promptly we responded to that attack. I have news for you Einstein, your friends don’t cause such devastation as that. Who is paying for all the damage done to this country and it’s citizens, you?
Yes, they purposefully released a virus to harm the entire world, but mostly the US, because it is a nation of petulent children who will cry like babies about having to wear masks or do anything slightly different.
And yes, the twin towers. When reactionary fools decided to invade the wrong country and destabilize an entire region so much that two decades later we are still throwing trillions as the problem.
Good to see the full level of your derangement on display here.
The Cadillac factory in Jinquio was planned and begun long before Mary Barra became CEO.
Setting aside psuedo politics and other non-sense …
Does anyone have any thoughts on the fact that the Chinese buy more CT5s than Americans by a factor of 4? The CT6 also continues to flourish there. In 2019 China sales of the CT6 bested the US by nearly 3 to 1.
The very same vehicles offered in 2 countries. One loves them and buys lots of them. The other, not so much.
If Cadillac fails in the US it will NOT be because of China.
Chinese retailers are disappeared if they piss off customers.
Geo nothing, China is killing Americans
I tell you that’s a great great looking car! Soyboy, gayish looking germans can not hold a candle to that badboy.
