Rendering Dresses Chevy Camaro Up In A Cadillac Escalade Disguise

The Instagram page @CarFrontSwaps does exactly what it says on the tin. The slightly crazy person behind the account has generated a following of more than 25,000 people by photoshopping the front ends of cars onto different cars. No front end swap, no matter how ridiculous, is off the table. Just take this absurd Chevy Camaro and Cadillac Escalade mashup they posted to their page recently for example.

This absolutely cursed General Motors product mashup is based on a fifth-generation Chevy Camaro base model finished in Switchblade Silver. That means this fictional Cadillac coupe would feature a 3.6L LLT V6 engine, rather than the more sought-after 6.2L LS3 V8.

The front fascia, meanwhile, has been lifted from a second-generation Cadillac Escalade. This is a bit of an odd decision on the part of the artist, in our opinion, as the second-generation Escalade is some years older than the fifth-generation Chevy Camaro. The third-generation Escalade might have been a more appropriate candidate for this photoshop job, as it was sold at the same time as the fifth-gen Camaro, but we digress.

This odd coupe/SUV combination looks strange, but we’re actually surprised at how well the fifth-generation Camaro body wears the Cadillac front fascia. That said, we don’t think GM really missed an opportunity in not offering a Cadillac vehicle based on the Camaro’s Zeta platform. After all, the Corvette-based Cadillac XLR was far from a sales hit, so it seems highly unlikely a comparable Camaro-based product would have fared any better.

  11. I wish Cadillac or Buick would make something on the Camaro platform. Imagine having 3 more inches of wheelbase so you get a usable back seat and something softer than the rock-hard suspension on the Camaro SS. Heck, let Buick put the turbo V6 from the old Caddy CT6 in there, paint it black and call it a Grand National.

    1. What if, back in the day, Oldsmobile had gotten an F body car, as they reportedly were going to? Maybe a Buick? If DeSoto or Edsel had lived, what would their pony cars have looked like? Now that might be worth photoshopping.

  12. I’m actually surprised but if Cadillac ever entered the pony car wars, I like this rendering but maybe in a different colour
