GM Officially Launches The 2021 Cadillac XT4 In Russia

Nearly seven months after GM Authority exclusively anticipated its arrival, General Motors has officially launched the Cadillac XT4 in Russia, the company’s best-selling brand in the country. The 2021 Cadillac XT4 will soon arrive in the Russian market to expand the brand’s utility vehicle portfolio and boost sales volume, as it enters the highly popular compact crossover segment in the country.

During a media presentation a few days ago, the automaker’s Russian subsidiary announced that it was immediately accepting pre-orders for the 2021 Cadillac XT4 and that the brand’s smallest crossover will be available in dealerships over the next month. The XT4 is expected to soon become the main driver of Cadillac’s planned expansion in the Russian market.

The 2021 Cadillac XT4 arrives in Russia with exactly the same powertrain offerings with which the model was launched in Europe. The two engine options include the usual gasoline unit available in all markets as well as the all-new, latest-generation diesel engine developed specifically for the European and Russian markets. Both are mated to the GM nine-speed automatic transmission.

As in all regions where the compact crossover is offered, the turbocharged 2.0L LSY I4 that develops 237 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque serves as the base engine of the 2021 Cadillac XT4 in Russia. Meanwhile, the new turbo-diesel 2.0L LSQ I4 is the upgrade engine, developing 174 horsepower and 281 pound-feet of torque.

As such, the 2021 XT4 will have a total of six variants for Russian buyers, spread across Luxury, Premium Luxury and Sport as part of the brand’s Y trim level strategy. All come equipped with a high level of technological and safety features as standard, including the latest-generation Cadillac User Experience infotainment system as well as the most comprehensive advanced safety suite in its class.

The 2021 Cadillac XT4 will go on sale in Russia by the end of January 2021, with units imported from the GM Fairfax plant in Kansas City, which supplies worldwide markets except China, where the XT4 is manufactured for local consumption. Here are the suggested prices for the Cadillac XT4 in the Russian market:

  • 2021 XT4 Luxury Gas: 3,250,000 RUB (about $44,070 USD at current exchange rates)
  • 2021 XT4 Luxury Diesel: 3,330,000 RUB ($45,160 USD)

  1. GM seems to feel they can “eventually” sell 10,000 Caddy’s a year in Russia.

To put that objective in perspective, GM Russia only sells around 2,000 GM products a year TOTAL. And they’ve been trying for years.

Good luck with those Caddy sales in Russia.
