General Motors has issued a technical service bulletin (TSB) for the 2021 Buick Encore GX crossover equipped with the optional nine-speed automatic transmission over an issue related to the transmission clutch spring retaining ring. This problem is similar to the issue seen in other GM crossovers like the Chevy Blazer, Equinox and GMC Terrain, for which GM also issued a TSB earlier this week.
The problem: on affected vehicles, the transmission clutch spring retaining ring may not be fully seated. In vehicles with this condition, a warning light indicating a transmission malfunction will appear on the gauge cluster, alerting the driver of the issue. This warning light will appear when the vehicle still shows low mileage on the odometer.
The hazards: GM’s bulletin does not say what problems the transmission clutch spring retaining ring issue may lead to, although as noted above, the problem will produce a malfunction indicator warning light on the gauge cluster. This problem will also produce a diagnostic trouble code (or DTC) of P0747.
If the TSB applies to any vehicles in a dealer’s inventory, dealers are instructed not to sell any vehicles that do not pass the inspection procedure outlined in the TSB document.
The fix: dealers will be instructed to inspect and replace the transmission clutch spring retaining ring in affected vehicles.
Affected component: transmission clutch spring retaining ring.

Dear GM, quit building sh$t please.
Yes Shockandawe, because Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Kia, VW and so many more just never have problems. They never have TSB’s issued. They never have recalls. Only GM right?
My 2020 Buick Encore GX is rejected by the Buick app. Finally, it identified it as an Encore but not a GX. All my paperwork says GX. But the app says not. And it will not give me info on a GX. SNAFU somewhere in the giantbGM Buick chain. Dealer refuses to talk to me about it. Williamsburg VA
radio. cuts in and out.
hard riding
gritty sounding engine
nice looking
good gas mileage.
My Buick is at 7000 km and is having this transmission issue. Our local dealership is working on this issue and can’t wait to get our car back. Our dealership was quick to get the car in and diagnose the issue. My awd encore is great on the mountain passes and is a pleasure to Drive. Can’t wait to get it back.
will this problem affect it going into reverse?
