GM Canada sales increased 7 percent to 56,966 units during the fourth quarter of 2020. Sales increased at Chevrolet, Cadillac and GMC brands, while decreasing at Buick.
GM Canada Sales Notes – Q4 2020
GM states that industry retail sales began to recover after the second quarter of 2020, and the company then saw significant growth in sales of HD trucks, crossovers and SUVs as dealers continued to report strong customer demand for vehicles with hauling and towing capability due to COVID-19 limitations on traditional vacations and air travel.
“Despite the uphill battle the industry faced in 2020, GM grew market share, delivered resilient year-end sales results thanks to strong customer demand for pickups, crossovers and SUVs, and had Cadillac’s best retail sales year in Canadian history,” said Sandor Piszar, vice president, sales, service and marketing, GM Canada. “Together, we achieved many significant accomplishments including making more than six million face masks for the Government of Canada, rolling out the CLEAN dealer program, launching our full-size SUVs and announcing the return of trucks to Oshawa – setting us up for great success in 2021.”
GM Canada grew market share in 2020, up an estimated 0.7 percentage points compared to 2019. Strong truck, SUV and crossover sales drove GM Canada industry share growth in 2020. The Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra HD trucks had their best retail sales year ever, making the Chevy full-size truck GM’s best-selling vehicle in the Canadian market; in recent past, the spot has been dominated by the GMC Sierra.

Anyone know why the big boost for the midsize twins?
Buick sales in North America 🤣 Sell that brand to SAIC before it has absolutely no value.
It was noted back in 2009 on the GM Authority web site:
GM and SAIC (Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation Group) have formed a new joint venture in which each company holds an equal 50 percent stake.
