Chevrolet has announced a new virtual online showroom called Chevy MyWay that will mimic the Cadillac Live service General Motors launched last year.
Chevy MyWay will allow prospective customers to log into the virtual showroom and receive a free guided tour of a Chevrolet vehicle of their choice from a knowledgeable product specialist thanks to its “1:1 Studio.” Just like Cadillac Live, the Chevy MyWay representative will be able to answer the customer’s questions with regard to the vehicle and show and demonstrate specific features. The customer will be able to see the Chevy MyWay representative and speak to them, but the video is one-way only, so the representative cannot see the customer.
Unlike Cadillac Live, however, Chevy MyWay goes beyond the one-on-one interaction with its “1:Many Studio.” This will allow Chevy fans to attend virtual online product presentations, future product reveals and seminars with high-ranking GM employees like those in charge of its racing and motorsports division, for example. There will also be a Virtual Auto Show feature, which allows people to easily look at all the latest vehicles in Chevy’s product lineup and learn more about them.
Chevy MyWay will undergo a soft launch starting this week. This is similar to the strategy that General Motors took with Cadillac Live, which first launched in Canada before expanding to the much larger and more demanding American market. The entire Chevy vehicle lineup will be available to view via Chevy MyWay and the service will be open until midnight on weekdays and until 9 p.m. on weekends.
Cadillac Live has proven to be a useful tool for creating sales leads for Cadillac dealerships amid the COVID-19 pandemic. When GM was forced to shut down its brick and mortar storefronts early last year, Cadillac Live allowed customers to get a similar treatment that they would at a real dealership from the safety of their own home. At the end of the one-on-one session, the Cadillac Live representative can pass the customer’s information along to the dealership to close the sale. This is similar to GM’s Shop. Click. Drive. online shopping tool, but with the added benefit of getting to talk to a human product rep.
