The GM Authority Take

After suffering a notable decrease in November, Chevrolet Korea sales managed to post a healthy increase in December 2020. Thanks to the positive result in December, Chevrolet successfully completed a challenging calendar year in the South Korean market, registering its first annual sales increase in several years with a total 82,954 units delivered during the complete 2020 calendar year.

The primary driver of Chevrolet South Korea sales both in December as well as during the complete calendar year, was the all-new Chevrolet Trailblazer that recovered its previous sales levels during December, adding 20,887 units for the yearly tally and positioning itself as the second most-popular Chevy model after the Spark, which has traditionally led GM sales in the Asian country.

Four Chevy models also posted notable increases in sales volume in December, including the Camaro, Damas, Equinox and Labo. In particular, the range of commercial vehicles that GM manufactures exclusively for the South Korean market registered the largest increases for the month, enabling them to end the year in the green.

In addition, yearly sales were supported by the strong performance of the Colorado and Traverse which have become benchmarks in their respective segments in South Korea since their respective launches in 2019.
