C8 Corvette owners looking to uncork their mid-engine masterpiece with a new cat-back exhaust system can now turn to aftermarket tuner Hooker and its BlackHeart series for the latest in free-flowing pipes.
The new Hooker BlackHeart cat-back exhaust system for the C8 Corvette is made from 304 stainless steel and includes a straight-through muffler design to bless the Vette with a “deep aggressive rumble.” The system also features exhaust valves and simulators that reuse the factory valve actuators, providing a more aggressive open-exhaust sound on demand.
The new Hooker BlackHeart C8 Corvette incorporates mandrel-bent 3-inch tubing, as well as 2.5-inch tubing through the muffler, terminating in four-inch double-walled polished stainless steel tips adorned with a laser-etched Hooker BlackHeart logo.
Properly installed, the new exhaust system offers upwards of 10 horsepower and 10 pound-feet of torque over the factory setup, as verified on a dyno, as well as 34 percent weight savings over the OE exhaust system, cutting 19 pounds total.
Each kit includes all the hardware required for installation, as well as a manufacturer’s limited lifetime warranty. And because it replaces the factory components behind the catalytic converter, this cat-back system is also emissions-legal.
Check it out in action in the video below. Clocking in at just 1 minute, 40 seconds, the video shows off the new Hooker BlackHeart system equipped on the C8 Corvette and running both valves open and valves closed.
As a reminder, the new C8 Corvette is equipped with the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 LT2 gas engine, which is rated at 490 horsepower and 465 pound-feet of torque without the factory performance exhaust system, and 495 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque with the factory performance exhaust system. Output is routed to the rear wheels by way of an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Some of us would rather the old klug klug gurgle sound of the early 70’s V8s. Does anyone make that for the née C8?
Amen! I have no problem demonstrating my preference: just Google 2019 Mustang Bullitt and listen to the Ford produced promo video with McQueen’s daughter supposedly driving one. Next step down is my daughter’s 2018 485hp Durango 392 with stock 4” exhaust. I’ve never owned a Ford, but I’m disappointed by the sound of the latest GT500, which, along with the C7 ZR1, sounds like a scream of distress. BTW, even with the Hooker exhaust the C8 is down 10hp under the LS7. The best cockpit music I’ve heard is the 2014 Camaro Z28 running the Nurburgring. I would give you a link to my YouTube posting of it, but I’m afraid of losing this book I have written to you, and would have to kill myself.
Sounds strong and not whiny. There is strength in that sound, sir. 😉
I WANT POWER NOT JUST THE SOUND
THE LMR SYSTEM IS BETTER
