Body-Color Wheel Arch Moldings Unavailable For 2021 GMC Sierra HD

The optional Body Color Wheel Arch Moldings offered for the 2021 GMC Sierra HD are no longer available to order, GM Authority has learned from sources familiar with the automaker’s go-to-market plans.

The Body Color Wheel Arch Moldings offered for the 2021 GMC Sierra HD are tagged with RPO code SF6, and were previously available on all trim levels of the GMC Sierra 2500HD and 3500HD, with the exception of the base model (that is, the upgrade was available on SLE, SLT, AT4, and Denali trims, but not the base-model Sierra HD).

Furthermore, the Body Color Wheel Arch Moldings were previously available on all cabs and bed configurations for the 2021 GMC Sierra HD, but were only offered in conjunction with single rear-wheel configurations, and not dual-rear-wheel configurations.

  • Summit White
  • Onyx Black
  • Cayenne Red Tintcoat
  • Quicksilver Metallic

Pricing for the upgrade is set at $685, per the 2021 GMC Sierra HD online configurator.

It’s currently unclear when the Body Color Wheel Arch Moldings option will once again be available to order for the 2021 GMC Sierra HD.

As GM Authority exclusively covered last month, the Body Color Wheel Arch Moldings option offered with the GMC Sierra 1500 light-duty pickup truck is also currently unavailable to order.

As a reminder, the 2021 GMC Sierra HD is the second model year of the latest fourth generation vehicle. The 2021 GMC Sierra rides on a more capable version of the GM T1 platform, and is available with two engine options, including the naturally aspirated 6.6L V8 L8T gas unit, which produces 401 horsepower and 464 pound-feet of torque, and the 6.6L V8 L5P turbodiesel Duramax, which produces 445 horsepower and 910 pound-feet of torque.

  2. the trucks are hideous with all the cheap black plastic trim every were , wheel lip moldings, mirrors, bed steps, cap steps, bed rails , bumper steps, cheap , cheap, cheap, to top it off all paint colors are dark to hide cheap plastic, cheap interiors, fake allison transmissions , cheap thin seats , cheap black wall good year tires, no two tone paint. cheap trucks, yea I own one

    1. If the truck is so hideous, why did you buy one? Clearly the truck was the same way when you bought it, the build quality didn’t get worse sitting in your driveway. There were other options that maybe you would have found less hideous.

  4. I own one, ’20 3500 DRW LBZ. I don’t haven’t got anything to complain about yet. Somethings that I wish were different…yea a few, but over all….so far, I am good. It is my 8th GM HD truck. This one pulls better, pulls more, stops better than any truck I have owned. Not sure what more I could expect.

  5. Unless it’s a denali or elevation, I honestly think the standard non-painted look better.

  6. Here’s the deal guys, if we don’t start holding GM to a higher standard they will continue to decontent. Painted flares should be standard on all high end trims. These trim levels should be either paint to match or painted black with non painted black as an option if ordered. GM is also the only one that doesn’t dress up the tailgate handle area on high end trims. I have some of the same discussed above seat issues with my 15 Denali. The seats are simply too hard making them uncomfortable for long drives. Anything over an hour and my back and legs start hurting. It’s one of several reasons I haven’t updated my truck since I have heard many similar complaints about the 2020. I have been patiently waiting for the interior update. If the new interior doesn’t significantly improve I might have to start looking outside of GM for the first time in my life. I have had good luck with my GM trucks and want to stay loyal but sometimes loyalty has to be earned. Are you listening GM?

  8. Wow I can’t believe how many flakes are leaving comments… I have an 2005 3500 and it still runs like it should. Nobody with a clue about trucks buy these machines because of the trims or the shine in the paint, we buy them because they are machine that work and work hard, we buy because the engine is a duramax not because the mirrors are the same color as the truck. If all you care about is painted mirrors and stupid color matching trims go get a dodge because you don’t deserve a real truck… just my 2 cents

    1. I disagree with you when the company has already offered the color matching wheel molding and then says Oh they won’t be avaiiiable the rest of the year kind of rags a guy off bet they didn’t give any price reduction either When you pay big bucks for a new truck it better look and run like a wet dream

    2. Marc it’s not about being a flake it’s about wanting GM to stay competitive. Believe it or not appearance is a huge factor in many peoples buying decisions. Is it more important than mechanical function? Of course not but still important when spending the kind of money they are charging. I want my truck to work hard and look good while doing it. And yes, I do have a clue about my truck, I have owned and used them as intended my entire life. Some guys don’t care what their truck looks like and thats fine. That said it’s not out of line to expect GM to give you the same perceived value for your money as the competition.

I have owned three Chevy trucks and five GMC trucks. For me to buy a new truck I first have to like the way it looks, inside and outside. Then the options, I like to dress up my truck with: fifth wheel prep package, console vault, rear under-seat storage , and etc. I own a 2018 GMC Sierra 2500HD Denali in White Frost Tricoat with the big beautiful grill and body-color front and rear bumpers and the UGLY black wheel arch moldings. I purchased the premium exterior color for $1,095.00 and then it falls short again by not finishing the high end look of a Denali with body-color wheel arch moldings!!! When you purchase a higher end trim package, the trim should be body-color matched! The body-color wheel arch moldings should be available in ALL COLORS.
The Denali trim should be with body-color bumpers, wheel arch moldings, and side bed step surrounds (like the rear bumpers). The Denali trim content and options should be the same on the Sierra pick-up Denali as on the Yukon Denali: power retractable assist steps, adaptive cruise control, trailer side blind zone alert, rainsense wipers, power tilt and telescopic steering column, sunroof power sunshade and all the door handles should be chrome, including the tailgate handle. I installed a chrome tailgate handle on my 2018 Denali and it really dressed up the rear tailgate.
GMC if you’re listening with a new interior coming soon, I hope you put back the sunglasses storage in the overhead console, like my 2018. That is very convenient to reach, when you need to see because of the blinding sun.
GMC, the Denali trim is nice on the Sierra, but it should be the same as the Yukon. I want to tow a fifth wheel trailer in the future and I would like it to be as nice as a Yukon! The Sierra 3500HD Denali I’d like to purchase has a MSRP of $85,220.00.
A Denali should a Denali – Professional Grade and Premium Features! Come on GMC get it right!

  11. Not sure I understand what the deal is here. I want a 21 3500 Denali truck but it’s a personal must to have the color coded wheel arch openings. Some might like the non painted arch openings but not me and I think painted makes the truck look better. Are these just not available at this time? Will they become available any time soon? Really doesn’t make much sense to only have one supplier for these kind of truck parts. Come on GM what’s the true issue?
