The GMC Hummer EV has reinvented the legendary off-roading nameplate as an all-new, tech-heavy, battery-driven monster. As it just so happens, customers will be able to strengthen the new Hummer’s dirt-duty chops by opting for the Extreme Off-Road Package, which adds a selection of off-roading gear for midrange models.
As identified by the folks over at Hummer Nation, the 2023 GMC Hummer EV pickup will offer an Extreme Off-Road package for 2023 model year vehicles, including the EV3X and the EV2X. The package includes the following content:
- Full underbody skid plates
- Underbody cameras
- Heavy-duty ball spline shafts
- Front and rear e-lockers
- 18-inch wheels
- 35-inch OD mud terrain tires
If that list looks familiar, it’s because the new range-topper in the GMC Hummer EV pickup lineup, the Edition 1, is equipped with each item as standard.
The Edition 1 will be the first Hummer EV model to roll off the production line at the GM Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly plant in Michigan, now known as GM Factory Zero. The first customer-bound Hummer EV Edition 1 units are set to arrive in the fall of 2021 for the 2022 model year.
The GMC Hummer EV Edition 1 starts at $112,595. Reservations for the range-topping trim are now full, with General Motors collecting 10,000 reservations within 10 minutes of opening its books.
Following the Edition 1 will be the rest of the Hummer EV line, including the EV3X and the EV2X, the former of which will be available in the fall of 2022, starting at $99,995, and the latter of which will be available in the spring of 2023, starting at $89,995. Both the EV3X and EV2X will be offered for the 2023 model year, and will include the option for the Extreme Off-Road Package.
Meanwhile, the Hummer EV2 will arrive in the spring of 2024. It’s currently unclear if the EV2 will be offered with the Extreme Off-Road Package slated for the EV3X and EV2X.

This would be the equivalent of Mercedes Benz offering the extra quieting package for the S-class. haha.
Well, it would be more akin to Mercedes-Benz offering an additional luxury package for the S-Class… which it actually does. Another example would be Lexus offering an ultra luxury package for the LS, which it also does.
Options are good, especially for a status vehicle like the Hummer (most of which will never see anything but pavement).
So, an even quicker way to drain the battery.
10,000 orders x $112,595 = $1,125,950,000…. GM using this to pay off the new factory would be genius
