2022 Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing Performance Figures Leaked

Performance figures to the upcoming 2022 Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing ultra-high-performance luxury sedan have been “accidentally leaked” according to one source.
Auto Verdict claims to have seen an order guide relating to the CT4-V Blackwing. Almost all of the reported information in that guide was already known, but the straight-line performance figures have not yet been officially confirmed. These are said to be a top speed of 189 mph and a 0-to-60 mph time of 3.8 seconds.
The latter is only 0.1 seconds slower than the time for the CT5-V Blackwing, according to the same source. The top speed is 11 mph slower, as the more powerful car is believed to be capable of traveling at 200 mph.
Auto Verdict does not reveal which of the two possible transmissions was fitted to the CT4-V Blackwing which achieved the reported figures. Like its CT5-V BW equivalent, the car will be fitted as standard with a six-speed manual gearbox supplied by Tremec, though customers also have the option of GM’s own ten-speed automatic.
The Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing will be powered by the twin-turbocharged 3.6L V6 LF4 engine previously fitted to the now discontinued ATS-V, but this does not necessarily mean that it will produce exactly the 464 horsepower and 445 pound-feet of torque as it did in the ATS-V.
The CT4-V Blackwing will be based on the GM Alpha 2 platform, and will be assembled at the GM Lansing Grand River plant in Michigan. It is expected to be launched in the summer of 2021, with magnesium wheels available as an option. Both this model and the CT5-V Blackwing will appear in an ad to be aired on January 30th, during the Rolex 24 race at Daytona, and will be open for pre-ordering on February 1st.

Same spec as the ATS-V per GM.
Personally I think the CT4 and CT4V was a miss and a bare minimum approach. I really, really like the CT5-V though. Only miss there is that the 3.0TT is 360hp and it should have been 404hp like the CT6 that has the exact same engine.
Especially if it is only RWD only.
I have the ct6 v, not sure why caddy didn’t use the 6.2 with a blower. that’s what I wanted with the 650/650

Someone had fun with the camo to make it look like the Pontiac G6 RWD second-gen we never got.
(Lutz’s vision was G6 would be the low-cost twin of the ATS… ATS became CT4).
The designing of the G6 is almost 20-years old now. No relationship at all with new crash standards.

Black metal or the stuff you dont see has all changed. Allot of laser welding and use a different metal thicknesses make this all new top to bottom.

A completely different body, facias, and interior is NOT a mere facelift. Nothing that can be seen, and much that cannot, is shared with the ATS.
You’re right, I guess it’s a reskin.
But same powertrain, chassis and interior dimensions. Everything that can’t be seen seems identical.
Not a reskin either it is a completely re-engendered platform. It is utilizing the Alpha II chassis an improved version of the Alpha chassis that the ATS used (as well as the CTS, and 6th gen Camaro) it also utilizes new and greatly improved electronics (which means not likely to be tunable for some time). the CT4 is better than the ATS in almost every way but not by much it is still the baby Cadillac an entry level car. The CT4-V “sport” is the best one for the money the 2.7T will be a fun Platform to build on once tuners can unlock the ECM.
Do you know what the differences between alpha and alpha 2 are? I have a feeling it’s minor. From the side this car looks exactly like an ATS. This is a heavy heavy refresh with some marketing speak.
The hard points are identical and it appears the lf4 will be too. It took them 2 years to release a ct4v? Why?
They should have righted their past wrong and gone with a v8.

Without AWD, I can’t imagine any measurable performance difference from the ATS-V, regardless of Alpha vs Alpha II

How does GM constantly go backwards and stay in business? ATS-V & CTS-V had character, these two are plain Jane’s with ugly interiors! Disaster.
I’m old enough to remember when Chevrolet was “The Heartbeat of America.” I remember when Ford was Built Ford Tough and Dodge was grabbing life by the horns. I miss those days. With the tech we have, you would think cars would be better but they aren’t they’re more expensive and less reliable. Gm is trying to make Cadillac do what they should have kept Pontiac around to do and they’re trying to make Buick (the brand that should have gotten dropped) do what Cadillac should be doing and they’re letting Chevrolet die. I wont get long winded about this but They (like Ford) are truly messing up.
Don’t blame GM blame the bureaucrats at EPA and congress. A bunch of know nothing idiots. Do you really think Chevy thinks its a great idea to put a Turbo charged, direct injection, high compression 3 cylinder in the new Trailblazer? Beyond stupid.
I disagree. The competition is doing it, Cadillac just lacks vision. Too concerned with being like the Germans. If they offered some variation of a v8 (I’d say decrease the stroke of a 6.2 and raise the redline some with some minor cam change and it would be Cadillac unique even though its basically an LT1) they would pull new customers back to American performance luxury. Keep the 3.0TT for exports.
Look at the 2.0T they put in their luxury cars. It’s a detuned version of the base engine that goes in the Camaro. Think about it. Its a worse version of the worst engine you can get in 25k Camaro.

It’s literally just your Negative perception. Less power doesn’t mean “worse version of an engine”. It just means less powerful. You’re also pretending that GM is the only manufacturer who shares powertrains between their luxury and standard brands. They aren’t.
Cadillac lacks vision? Lol. The company that just rolled out the first of a kind curved 38-inch OLED display in a production vehicle “has no vision”? The company that just offered dealerships a buyout as an alternative to investing hundreds of thousands into facility upgrades in order to be compatible and ready for the EV lineup that’s about to roll out “has no vision”? Well Cadillac is making some pretty big moves for a company that has no vision.
Meanwhile companies like Genesis are playing dress up in Bentley-esque gear and clothing because their idea of luxury and performance is to be something completely unrelated to them and to mimic another brand entirely. But it’s Cadillac that has no vision because they retuned the engine that’s in the base Camaro. Lol. That’s a silly proposition, and it’s no different than criticizing the CT5 for being on the same platform as the $25k Chevy Camaro but costing nearly $70,000 in top CT5-V platinum trim. It’s worth every penny considering what you’re getting and the Camaro is a great start to build a premium performance sedan on.
How is Cadillac too concerned with being the Germans? The look nothing like the Germans, drive different from them, sound different than them, and go about luxury in a completely different way than the Germans. Cadillac evolving and becoming more versatile isn’t “trying to be the Germans”, they’re unique and have originality. A lot more than i can say about some of Cadillac’s competitors. These are a bunch of asinine claims that have all been debunked already.
Please stand by while all manufacturers kick the can down the road until EV”s double their output!
Now, take the LF4 engine and put it in the Blazer and you’ll have an SUV to complete with Dodge SRT, Ford ST and Jeep SRT. Unfortunately, that will probably never happen. To bad, as I once had a Trailblazer SS and loved it.
If only GM’s huge plans consisted of bragging rights in the category of the Durango and Explorer ST. I just think GM has bigger fish to fry. Check Blazer sales, they know their audience and apparently people like it the way it is. What y’all are asking GM to do is chase the competition which means they’d always be behind. Instead they’re moving in their own direction and that’s electrification. Soon the Explorer ST and Durango will be changing their own stripes in order to keep up with GM. Just wait and you’ll see. Cadillac is about to take over the EV market. Lincoln has become a crossover/SUV brand. They’re just trying to benefit off the quickest dollar. GM actually has a hidden agenda that ain’t so hidden because they’ve been planning this for a long time. It’s called ELECTRIFICATION.

If that’s true I’m not imressed with the ct5 numbers. 3.7 means it won’t be the fastest in the d segment.
CT5-Blackwing should have the killer LT5 engine in it from the ZR1 Corvette! Another GM Fail! I’ll keep my 17 CTS-V and take it to Hennessy for more gut wrenching power!
Unfortunately, Cadillac has totally lost the V vision. They’ve gone from, “how fast can we make this thing go” to “how refined can we be at 200mph”. I would have liked to see the only V in the lineup be a CT5 with the Hummer’s EV platform. Yes, just like the original CTSV, it would be unrefined, but it would also be completely insane and redefine everything Cadillac.
Don’t worry. Did you see the single turbo V6 Acura is just bringing out?
Disappointing. The ATS-V’s weakest link was the engine, yet the CT4-V Blackwing uses the same old and tired LF4. It’s a terribly unreliable power plant with an uncompetitive power output relative to competitors with over 500 hp.
The common refrain in comparison tests with European sports sedans was “the ATS-V would have won if it had GM’s small block V8.” Quicker, more linear throttle response, far more reliable, and full of character, an LT1 V8 would have made the CT4-VBW the perfect little brother to the supercharged CT5-VBW.
Imagine if GM had used the Corvette’s LT2 V8. Economy of scale would have made the V8 even cheaper to manufacture, improving profit margins on both the Corvette and the Cadillac. Sales would be off the charts for a V8 CT4-V, as V8s are more highly prized than V6 turbos. Check out resale values on GM’s V8 sedans – they are now appreciating!
If I could afford a CT4-VBW I honestly don’t know if I’d buy it over a V8 powered competitor like the AMG C63S, or even a silky I6 turbo BMW. Ultimately I’d probably settle for the Caddy since it’s a manual and made in America, but it’d be a close call. The CT-5VBW doesn’t interest me since it’s too powerful for public roads and I get frustrated holding back the throttle so much. A naturally aspirated V8 like the LT1 is simply perfect and it’s sad how GM’s product planners don’t appreciate their company’s own masterpieces.
I think you hit the nail on the head – many of us have been talking about this squandered opportunity for years with the ATS-V. The Camaro has garnered universal praise aside from its awkward packaging. The same drivetrain in a 4-door would have been an instant hit. Sadly, there was a rumored, but canceled ATS-V+.
That said, maybe the v6 is a little friendlier on the environment and they improved the sound and performance in this incarnation. I’m hoping the power increase is hiding more than just 8 ponies, who knows?
