2021 GMC Sierra Gets Reduced ProGrade Trailering System Availability

The 2021 GMC Sierra 1500 and Sierra HD offer all the right components and equipment to get the job done, but unfortunately, the availability of one of the nameplate’s more popular packages was just reduced, with the GMC Sierra ProGrade Trailering System no longer available to order on certain trim levels.

More specifically, the ProGrade Trailering System is no longer available to order on 2021 GMC Sierra 1500 SLE and 1500 Elevation trims. Previously, both trims offered the feature as an available option.

With regard to the heavy-duty lineup, the ProGrade Trailering System is no longer available to order on 2021 GMC Sierra 2500HD SLE and SLT Double Cab trims, nor is it available with the 3500HD SLE trim. The 2500HD SLE and 3500HD SLE previously offered the feature as an available option, while the 2500HD SLT Double Cab previously fitted the feature as standard.

It’s believed that the reduced availability of the package is due to microchip supplier constraints for one of the system’s components.

Luckily, the ProGrade Trailering System is still available with other trim levels of the 2021 GMC Sierra, including 1500 SLT, 1500 AT4, and 1500 Denali trims, which get it as standard, as well as 2500HD SLT Crew Cab, 2500HD AT4, 2500HD Denali, 3500HD SLT, 3500HD AT4, and 3500HD Denali trims, all of which also get the feature as standard.

To note, the all-new fourth-generation GMC Sierra 1500 was introduced for the 2019 model year, while the fourth-gen GMC Sierra HD was introduced for the 2020 model year.
