2021 GMC Sierra 1500 Gets Reduced Assist Step Availability

Five of the nine assist steps normally offered on the 2021 GMC Sierra 1500 pickup truck are currently unavailable to order due to supplier constraints, GM Authority has learned from sources familiar with the situation.

2. Included with Elevation Black Package (PDF)
3. Included with SLT Premium Package (PDB)
4. Included with Texas Edition SLT Premium Package (PDC)
5. Included with SLT Premium Plus Package (PDT)
6. Included with Texas Edtion SLT Premium Plus Package (PDW)
7. Included with AT4 Premium Package (PDG)
8. Included with Denali Ultimate Package (PEC)

The table above shows all the assist steps listed for the GMC Sierra 1500. The ones unavailable for the time being, which are all LPO or dealer-installed items, are as follows:

• Black Tubular Assist Steps, six-inch rectangular (RVQ)
• Black Tubular Assist Steps, four-inch round (RVS)
• Off-Road Black Assist Steps (S6L)
• Black Work Assist Steps (VQO)
• Chromed Tubular Assist Steps, six-inch rectangular (VXH)

As of this writing, all of the steps, including the ones currently not available, are still shown on the GMC Sierra 1500 configurator page on the GMC website, though this may change soon.

There is a small amount of good news for customers who wish to order the six-inch rectangular Black tubular assist steps shown on this page (RPO code RVQ). We understand that these should be available if ordered as part of the Elevation Black Package (RPO code PDF). This package, available only with the Elevation trim level, also includes all-weather floor liners and black GMC emblems, and is priced at $1,095.
