2021 Chevy Silverado HD Loses Convenience Package II

The 2021 Chevy Silverado HD is no longer available with the optional Convenience Package II upgrade, GM Authority has learned, due to a supplier constraint. It’s currently unclear whether or not the package will become available to order again for the remainder of 2021 model-year Silverado HD production.

The optional Convenience Package II upgrade was previously offered on 2021 Chevy Silverado 2500HD LT and 3500HD LT trim levels, including all available configurations. The Convenience Package II upgrade is tagged with RPO code PCM, and includes the following content (relevant RPO code listed in parentheses):

  • 120-volt power outlet (KI4)
  • 120-volt bed-mounted power outlet (KC9)
  • Chevrolet Infotainment System with 8-inch diagonal color touch-screen (IOS)
  • USB ports, SiriusXM with 360L (MCR)
  • HD radio (U2L)
  • HD Rear Vision Camera (UVB)
  • Hitch Guidance with Hitch View (PZ8)
  • Advanced Trailering System (U1D)

Additionally, Crew Cab and Double Cab models included a rear sliding power window (A48) and Universal Home Remote (UG1).

As GM Authority covered previously, the 2021 Chevy Silverado HD is no longer available with the Advanced Trailering Package, either.

The latest 2021 Chevy Silverado HD is the second model year of the fourth-generation vehicle, which debuted for the 2020 model year. The Silverado HD is offered with two engine options, with the naturally aspirated 6.6L V8 L8T gas engine making 401 horsepower and 464 pound-feet of torque, and the 6.6L V8 L5P turbodiesel Duramax making 445 horsepower and 910 pound-feet of torque. The 6.6L V8 gas engine connects to a six-speed automatic transmission, whereas the 6.6L V8 diesel engine connects to a 10-speed automatic transmission.

Under the skin is the GM T1 platform, with production taking place at the GM Flint Assembly facility in Flint, Michigan, and the GM Fort Wayne Assembly facility in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

  3. Doesn’t make sense, cutting a trailering package on a 2500 HD. It’s a big reason people buy them. Noticed GM is cutting a lot of options/packages. Sure there are dollar signs behind it. Just will make someone buy elsewhere, hope not, but imagine it will.

    1. So basically people scream that infotainment and cameras are useless on a working truck, and when they get cut on the low trim, people scream that the truck is worthless for working.

  4. To help clarify this is only affecting the LT trim level, some of the features in the convenience II are still available (KI4) 120-VOLT POWER OUTLET, (KC9) 120-VOLT BOX-MOUNTED POWER OUTLET, and (R7O) CLOTH REAR SEAT WITH STORAGE PACKAGE. This issue is to due with the (IOS) infotainment system and the earlier reported Semi-Conductor Chip Shortage. So the (PTT) TRAILER TPMS are also no longer available since it requires the (U1D) ADVANCED TRAILERING SYSTEM. The (QT6) POWER UP DOWN TAILGATE and (CF5) POWER SUNROOF are also currently not available to the LT trim, and this issue also no longer allows the combination of the (UVN) BED VIEW CAMERA and (DRZ) REAR CAMERA MIRROR to be added together.

The standard Sirius XM is still available just not the Sirius XM with 360L

Since this removes the (IOS) infotainment system wireless APPLE CARPLAY / ANRDIOD AUTO are not available

AGIAN this only affects the LT trim level the rest still get full availability of the options for those trim levels though this may change in the future just depending how bad the supplier issues get

  8. So we can get all of those options on an LTZ and we can get them on a 1500. Why single out the LT? Should I go with a F350 now?
