Wide-Bodied Pandem C8 Corvette Looks Imposingly Mean

Instagram user @Toxic_Garages recently took his Chevrolet Corvette C8 to bodykit specialist Pandem USA for a makeover. The dramatic result of their work is this wide-bodied C8 Corvette.

Any Pandem C8 Corvette has a visual drama to it, thanks to the talent of Japanese designer Kei Mura, CEO of both Pandem and Rocketbunny. But this wide-body car is, in its way, even more special than any previous example. Nobody with functioning eyes could miss the heavily-reworked wheel wells, the updated front bumper, the enormous rear spoiler, the rear diffuser or the aftermarket LD97 Forged wheels wrapped in suitably large Toyo tires.

And this is nowhere near the end of the story. The wide-bodied Pandem C8 Corvette will sound even better than a regular mid-engine Corvette thanks to its Borla exhaust system. Meanwhile, the suspension – supplied by Air Ride Equipment – gives it about the meanest stance imaginable, and we would imagine more competent handling, to boot.

The car’s already unmissably menacing appearance is enhanced by a black wrap fitted by Daley Visual of Corona, California. Detailing is by Golden State Auto Wash And Detail, while the mechanical side is looked after by family business WOW Auto Care of Poway, California (sadly closed for business right now after fire damaged the facility in September 2020 – we wish them well in their recovery).

The regular Pandem body kit for the C8 Corvette consists of a front lip, front and rear fenders, side skirts and a rear wing, and costs $7,000 in total, though all the parts can also be purchased separately. We suspect that the conversion seen here cost a whole lot more than that, but if this is the kind of look someone wants, as the owner clearly does, then it’s well worth it.

  2. Overall shape looks good, but I don’t care for the “bolt-on” look of it. Too bad it doesn’t flow in to the rest of the shape of the car.

  3. It’s beautiful. It would be amazing to see it prove the design in a Time Attack series. We need to see if all that aero helps or if it’s made to just look good standing still

    2. Exactly …well said…if the kit helps with downforce its worth the money. If not… it is not worth the money.

      1. I’m sure it probably does help.
I made my own aero kit for my Smart car and it made a 200% improvement in headwinds and trucks passing no longer budge my little car.

  4. Just like all Rocket bunny’s, the look is unparalleled and super awesome. But that car wouldn’t make it one mile on the street without loosing the entire bottom half of this kit!

    1. You know it’s on air ride right? So, the above pictures are when it’s lowered for these pictures only… when you get into the car and decide you want to drive, the air ride (suspension) goes on and raises the car a few inches. Just so you know

  5. This is a wide-body that doesn’t make me want to throw up in my mouth – probably has to do with it being all black, without the gaudy graphics or wild colors.
Of course, starting with something as beautiful as the C8 does give you an advantage (as well as a disadvantage – hard to improve on its looks WITHOUT being gaudy)

    Overall: I say well done

Although, I would have made more effort to make the fender flares blend in rather than give them the 4×4 “Pocket Flare” bolt-on treatment and lose the NASCAR style lettering on the tires – Toyo is obviously a sponsor, but subtlety can go a LONG way to making a car look even better.

  6. Not sure about these types of body kits/customizations personally. At some point they become caricatures of themselves – if wide and low is good, wider and lower is better, until they become so wide and so slow that they undermine the very performance they attempt to portray.

On the other hand, whatever floats one’s boat, so who am I to judge. If a cool looking car is the end goal, mission accomplished.

  7. I see all these negative comments putting down an innovative kid like this. No wonder our hot rod and custom industry could be in jeopardy. These people need encouragement and help from us older guys. Otherwise, we’ll be driving cars like you do.

  11. Hey… also ich hab ne Corvette C7 also das Vorgängermodell. 🙈😂

  12. The “flat” rear wheel wells are not esthetic…
looks like 1960s era racing design.
Wide, low very impractical except for show or racing. Good effort, but “no cigar.”

  13. Need a new photographer! Two of the photos are two dark to actually see the lines of the car and one of them is full of reflections.

    1. All of these senior citizens in their 2004 toyota siennas are just mad they can’t get a $7,000 body kit of they wanted to. hmm widebody? That must mean it’s too close to the floor. Give me my minivan any day over that. No stupid it’s both lowered and has a body kit on it. It’s some guy on instagrams car. Let him lower it and put a widebody if he wants to. He doesn’t care about your opinion. It’s funny how a lot of the people in the comments act like professionals but to anyone who knows about performance cars, you’re an absolute idiot. If you don’t know what you’re talking about, it’s perfectly fine not to leave a comment old man

      1. Drive Corvettes… NOT Siennas… Have C5 6,7… Waiting for C8 ZO6… NOT “Old man”…
However, this Wide Body iteration is NOT my cup of tea.

  14. I’m sure the pictures do not remotely do this wide body C8 creation any justice because by the looks of the pictures there are thousands of hours of fabrication put into this work of art?!?
I’m not here to complain only suggestive remarks and constructive criticism on the front and rear wheel wells.
Just pops out in my opinion whereas something is off?? Anyone think so or am I just overwhelmed at how bad ass this thing looks! Great job overall to everyone involved!

    1. Looking at these comments. Its like the majority of people on here have never heard of air-bags. No shit “the car would never go anywhere being that low” it doesn’t drive like that (Facepalm). I think this kit looks amazing. But everyone has their own opinions. Still though. Do some research before dragging something and calling it “stupid” and “totally impractical”.

  15. Appears heavily inspired by Jerry Wiegert’s Vector W2 and in fact the similarities between the two are much more than skin deep.

  16. Only for a show room floor. Too low and now will scrap everything if you try to drive it. Maybe the suspension can raise the car when it starts. If not you could not even get into a gas station parking lot without scrapping the group. Give me the original

  19. Sorry guys, you can keep on adding all
your bells and whistles to the new c8 corvette
,but at the end of the day if drop 50 to 85
grand on one , you just bought a poor man’s
ferrari. If you have 85 grand its better to go
the extra mile and add another 100 grand
    and get a ferrari.

    1. Go another 100 grand? U make it sound like another 100 grand is chump change. Also, tell me more about the cost of ownership with owning a Ferrari? I’ll take the poor mans vette and invest my other 100 grand. You own no cars so ur opinion demonstrates lack of knowledge.

  20. As if the C8 isn’t HEAVY enough in the first place! The car is ugly and now someone made it look e ven uglier. Like one other reader commented, it styling now says Want to be a Ferrari. What is the advantage of going mid engine when you look at the C8 Z51’s lap time at the Nurburgring ? Can you imagine how much slower this black contraptions lap times would be with the hundreds of extra pounds of garbage added on to an already to heavy sportier. Surprised the windshield doesn’t say Pep Boys across the top?

Instead of bashing it, state what modifications u would like to see or what u would have done differently. At least they didn’t just put a vanity plate on it to make it “unique”.
