General Motors recently released the full production numbers for the 2020 Corvette, allowing us to see how many customers ordered each different color, option and trim level. A surprisingly popular option available on the 2020 Corvette was colored seat belts, with one-third of all customers choosing to equip them on their car.
Chevy sold a total of 20,368 examples of the 2020 Corvette, including 16,787 coupes and 3,581 convertibles. Of those, 12,873 cars shipped with the standard Black seat belts, while 3,621 shipped with Torch Red seat belts and 1,291 shipped with Tan seat belts.
Tension Blue was the third most popular colored seat belt option at 1,133 units, followed by Yellow at 749 units and finally in last, Orange at 701 units.

Colored seat belts were available as a standalone $395 option on the 2020 Corvette and also return for the 2021 model year. Certain interior colors also come with colored seat belts, like the Natural Dipped Napa leather interior, which automatically adds Tan colored seat belts to the vehicle. Colored seat belts can also be equipped on all trim levels for the 2020 Corvette, including the entry-level 1LT.
GM had originally intended to produce as many as 30,000 examples of the 2020 Corvette, however significant production delays brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic slowed output of the vehicle significantly. It was only able to begin making the hardtop convertible version of the new mid-engine sports car late in the year, as well, result in the low 3,581-unit production number for 2020.
Production of the 2021 Corvette will begin at the GM Bowling Green Assembly plant on December 8th, 2020. Chevy applied some small changes to the vehicle for 2021, including two new exterior colors, Red Mist Tintcoat Metallic and Silver Flare Metallic.
