The 2022 GMC Hummer EV made its big debut on October 20th, 2020, ushering in a new chapter for the iconic Hummer nameplate. So far, we’ve seen the Hummer EV in a series of still images, but now, we’re getting an animated look at the battery-driven off-roader as it navigates both city streets and muddy trails thanks to the following brief video.
Recently posted to the official GM Design Instagram account (@generalmotorsdesign), the new Hummer EV video was created by GM’s Global Creative Visualization team, and chronicles the off-road pickup’s journey from urban living, to natural escape.
The video opens with the Hummer EV charging in a garage. After unplugging the pickup, a man (presumably the vehicle owner) climbs on board and heads out onto the street, with the pickup cruising down the boulevard in Touring mode.
Poised on the pavement, the Hummer EV commands attention, looking tough and rugged against the city streets and soaring skyscrapers. The video continues with vehicle details, including interior trim pieces and the wheels, all while the new off-roader makes a break for nature.
We next find ourselves in a misty, tree-covered mountain range, and before long, the Hummer EV turns off the blacktop and hits the dirt. After a few glory shots of the interior, we see the pickup splashing around in a few mud puddles before finally coming to a stop at a camp site.
The tailgate drops, unfolding to show off GMC’s MultiPro feature. With the sun down behind the hills, an expansive night sky is revealed, complementing the futuristic and functional Hummer EV interior, as well as the pickup’s lighting signature.
The video ends with a message: “All-Electric, Zero Emissions, Zero Limits.”
