Hennessey Camaro ZL1 Exorcist Boasts Unholy Horsepower: Video

The Chevy Camaro ZL1 is a mean piece of hardware straight out of the box. With 650-retina flattening horsepower and just as much torque, the ZL1 is a magnificent performer. If that doesn’t trip your trigger, if you feel the need for a bit more speed, and your checkbook allows it, then you can call Hennessey Performance Engineering in Sealy, Texas, for Camaro ZL1 transmogrification into a beast called The Exorcist (Exorcists are for ridding oneself of Demons).

A Camaro ZL1 Exorcist is changed from stock in many ways. The 6.2L V8 LT4‘s standard 1.7-liter supercharger is swapped for a massive 2.9-liter unit, along with a high-flow induction system, billet throttle body, a Hennessey Performance camshaft, ported cylinder heads, and the list goes on.

After all the new goodies have been installed, HPE dyno tunes and road tests your new beastie, slaps on new serial numbered dash and engine plaques, exterior badges, some spiffy new Hennessey floor mats, and sends it to you complete with a two-year, 24,000-mile limited warranty.

The net result of all this newfound power is startling. Right at 1,000 horsepower and 883 pound-feet of torque, zero-to-60 in just 2.1 seconds, with the quarter mile screaming by in a scant 9.57 seconds at 147 miles per. That’s right, your street-going Camaro ZL1 Exorcist drops into the nines at almost a buck fifty in the quarter. Top speed, should you ever find somewhere to air it out completely, is an eye-watering 217 miles per hour.

As you are reaching for your phone and checkbook, you need to know all of this comes at a rather substantial price. A Camaro ZL1 starts at $63,000 not including freight, tax, dealer’s fees, or any options. The Exorcist will set you back $120,000. If that doesn’t make you flinch, you better hurry, as Hennessey plans to build just 100 copies of the Exorcist.

If the 1,000-horsepower insanity of the Exorcist isn’t quite nutty enough for you, for the collection-plate-emptying sum of $200,000, you can have Hennessey’s Camaro ZL1 Resurrection that lays down an absolutely heavenly 1,200 ponies.

  1. “zero-to-60 in just 2.1 seconds,” Am i reading wrong or this thing is much faster than fastest hypercar and set a record? Bugatti sell 2.5 second car for 5 million dollar, this must be deal of century. Even your douch manager’s sedan; M5 start at ridiculous $124K and barely reach 3 something and also exactly looks like its 49K entry level version.

  2. Do you people ever proof read your own articles? In this article, you state the 1000 hp Exorcist will hit 0-60 in 2.1, and do the quarter mile in 9.57. In your other article, (see the link for the Resurrection) you state the Exorcist will do the quarter mile in about 10 seconds, but the faster more powerful 1,200 horsepower Resurrection will do 0-60 in 2.3 seconds. So the faster car is slower? And you aren’t even consistent in your numbers. Do you even read what you write, or just make it up as you go along? Ooofaaah!

  6. I like today’s automotive advancements, but why in the bloody f—— ,hell does everything have to be so dam f—— ,expensive, yes, there are people who well to do,with piles of money for toilet paper, you know exactly what I mean, and there are people who only dream about these way over priced automobiles, it’s not fair!!!!! Engineering does have its place, but ,sometimes it’s just way too dam much, I like anything and everything with an American history, Chevy, dodge, jeep, ford, our American heritage is just exactly that, OUR AMERICAN HERITAGE , it all puts way to dam much debate in my mind,

  8. The funny thing is someone with a tuned up foreign car will spank that camaro and their car will cost about half the price. It’s a beautiful car but I couldn’t see spending that much for that little.

  9. We’ll stick with our 2017 Camaro 2SS 50th Anniversary Edition. The reason is that it’s a more practical daily driver. Besides if a person wanted to just add a bolt on intercooler pro charger and jack up your horsepower. 200 plus easily.

  10. Hey why don’t you boys just sell the public the engine and drivetrain and I’ll put it in my 2015 SS2 CAMARO and I’ll take it from there. Or would that be way to much to ask for US the middle Class owners
