The GM Authority Take

GM Mexico sales suffered another decline in November, representing the ninth consecutive monthly downtick of the automaker’s business in the Latin country. The largest volume loss was suffered by Chevrolet, followed by Buick, while Cadillac and GMC managed to post healthy increases year-over-year. In fact, GMC accumulates four consecutive monthly sales gains in Mexico.

That said, the 14,115 deliveries is the best result for GM Mexico since the arrival of COVID-19.

Although most of the company’s models saw their sales drop in November, the recovery compared to recent months is due to the outstanding performance of the new Chevrolet Onix and Chevrolet Tracker – both based on the new GM GEM platform. The subcompact sedan became the company’s best-selling model in Mexico for the second consecutive month with its best performance to date of 3,473 units, while the all-new Tracker became the country’s best-selling crossover for the first time with 1,756 deliveries.

In addition, seven other nameplates managed to increase their sales on a year-over-year basis. These include the excellent performance of GM’s new family of full-size utility vehicles, which achieved outstanding increases in November. The all-new Cadillac Escalade and GMC Yukon were the main drivers of the positive result for their respective brands.
