The GM Authority Take

After two consecutive months of healthy double-digit increases in September and October, Chevrolet Korea sales declined markedly in November – making it the brand’s fourth negative monthly result so far in 2020. GM Korea attributes the November decline in sales to the “recent resurgence of COVID-19” in the Asian country, which has once again forced the authorities to impose restrictions on commercial activities to minimize the spread of the virus.

Seven of the eleven models Chevrolet offers in South Korea saw their sales decline in November, with Spark, Bolt EV and Trax impacting the brand’s overall volume loss the most. Among these three models alone, Chevrolet lost a significant 2,379 units on a year-over-year basis. In addition, the all-new Chevrolet Trailblazer lost momentum with 1,325 deliveries, the second-lowest sales figure since it launched in the South Korean market during the first quarter of the year.

By contrast, the Colorado, Damas and Labo models managed to post increases in sales volumes in November. In particular, the excellent performance of the midsize pickup stands out. With 604 units sold, the Colorado registered its best month since launching in South Korea in the second half of 2019.
