The GM Authority Take

Brazil’s auto industry saw a slight recovering in November as Chevrolet Brazil sales fell during the month. Even though the result represents the eighth consecutive contraction of Chevrolet sales in the South American country, the 39,220 units delivered in November represent the highest figure attained by the bowtie brand during the first 11 months of the 2020 calendar year. This allowed Chevy to recover the title of having the country’s best-selling vehicle in the car category, propelling the brand to become the second best-selling auto brand in the market.

The recovery of Chevrolet sales in Brazil during November is mainly due to the substantial increase in volume of its best-seller, the Chevrolet Onix, compared to the result of the last eight months. The Onix achieved the second-best performance of the year after the 26,775 deliveries in February. The excellent sales level of the Onix Plus sedan particularly stands out, achieving its best record to date with 12,135 units, increasing its leadership position as the best-selling sedan in the Brazilian market.

Only three Chevrolet models managed to increase their sales last month: Camaro, S10 and Tracker. The trio happens to be the three all-new (Tracker) or refreshed (Camaro, S10) vehicles recently launched in the country.

The next-generation Chevrolet Tracker continues its excellent performance in Brazil, with an impressive increase of 459 percent, making it the fastest-growing model in the country.

For its part, the Chevy S10 midsize pickup again led its segment in November thanks to increased interest in the updated model.
