C8 Corvette With Lingenfelter Extreme-S Exhaust Hits The Dyno: Video

Earlier this week, we saw Lingenfelter Performance Engineering demonstrate the sound of its new Extreme-S exhaust kit for the C8 Corvette with a short one-minute teaser video. Now, the tuning company is giving us a better idea of how this aftermarket exhaust kit sounds with a video showing it in action on a dyno.

The Lingenfelter Extreme-S exhaust kit was jointly developed with the exhaust experts over at Corsa Performance and consists of lightweight stainless steel tubes and 4.5-inch round tips with engraved Lingenfelter logos. In the video, an otherwise stock C8 Corvette with the Extreme S exhaust produces a healthy 452 horsepower and 433 pound-feet of torque at the wheels on the dyno. This represents increases of 19 horsepower and 15 pound-feet of torque at the wheels – a fairly significant amount for an exhaust system.

This exhaust is also lighter than the stock kit, but Lingenfelter has not said what kind of weight savings customers can expect. The exhaust is also 50-state legal and comes with a lifetime original owner’s warranty.

Tuners like Lingenfelter are currently limited in how they can modify the C8 Corvette due to the vehicle’s encrypted factory ECU. The company does still offer several upgrades for the mid-engine sports car in addition to the Extreme-S exhaust, however, including Corsa headers, lightweight wheels and carbon fiber Performance Design intake manifold.

The Lingenfelter Extreme-S exhaust is available to purchase on the company’s website for $3,599 USD. That’s a lot of money for an exhaust system, but then again, this is one of the few available upgrades C8 Corvette owners can currently make to their vehicles that will actually increase power. Lingenfelter says the exhaust has been specially tuned to ensure it won’t produce any engine codes or warning lights after installation.

  2. That price though. Guess the “Corvette tax” is still alive and well.
