General Motors has implemented an extended warranty coverage for certain C7 Corvette Z06 models due to the sports car’s penchant to overheat while being driven hard on the track.
GM issued a document to dealers this week indicating it had implemented the new extended warranty coverage on 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018 model year C7 Corvette Z06 models. The document says these vehicles “may have a condition where the vehicle may overheat and enter a reduced power mode when driven on a track at sustained high speeds in high ambient temperatures.”
The special coverage looks to address this issue and “covers the condition described above for a period of 7 years or 72,000 miles, which occurs first, from the date the vehicle was original placed in service, regardless of ownership.” The document also indicates that vehicle owners or lessees who paid for repairs referenced in this special coverage warranty are eligible for reimbursement.
To correct the overheating issue in affected vehicles, dealers are instructed to install an updated radiator package, along with updated shift point calibration software for automatic vehicles. These repairs will be made at no cost to the customer, although the customer must provide proof of the overheating problem in the way of a diagnostic code, photos or video.
The C7 Corvette Z06 overheating issues are well-known and widely publicized, as GM has already faced a number of class-action lawsuits over the problem. Chevy implemented some small changes on the 2017 model Corvette Z06 to help remedy the overheating issue, which included revised hood intake vents and a reworked cooling system, among more, but some owners still reported experiencing cooling issues with the vehicle.
The C7 Corvette Z06 is powered by a supercharged 6.2L LT4 V8 engine producing 650 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque, which is paired with a standard seven-speed manual or optional GM eight-speed automatic. These cooling issues have been experienced by owners of both automatic and manual transmission vehicles.

Maybe now GM will also address the cracking rim issue on the C7 Z06?
There’s a class action lawsuit regarding the wheels you can. Participate in
I would be really interested to know just what SPECIFIC modifications–mechanical AND tuning–they plan on making to mitigate the issue. Could be as simple as a higher temperature thermostat, in 2018s and 19s, and revising the shift points down in manual AND auto (paddle-shift) modes, as the temps rise, severely reducing performance, just not as severe as the present tune does. My guess is 2017s and earlier would get the 2018 radiator. There in no question in my mind that they will NOT install the ZR1 cooling packages (“cheek” radiator system) as it would cost GM a ton of money.
‘T’will be interesting.

I guess you didn’t read the article.
Oh but I did Michael!
A quote from the piece: “To correct the overheating issue in affected vehicles, dealers are instructed to install an updated radiator package, along with updated shift point calibration software for automatic vehicles.”
Now, Michael, please explain to me IN DETAIL what these updates entail?
NOW who didn’t read the article . . . OR my detailed comment?

You just answered with your reply
Michael,
I think that you should learn how to read before you start sniping at people who write well-thought-out, detailed posts.

Thanks for proving my point
Give it a rest, Michael. Now you’re being childish!

And the hits just keep on comin!
Yes the cracked rim issue affected me as well in my 2019 Z06. I had to buy a new rim on my own here in Germany. No warranty even it was not happening on the track. I never was on a race track with this car and still no warranty. That’s so cheap Chevrolet…
I feel bad for you when you need new wheels in the future go with aftermarket. There is a place in Florida that has the exact same looking wheels! That what I will be doing when mine go bad Generous Motors can go to hell!!
What is the name of the wheel place in Florida for the oem look alikes
Why wasn’t the 2019 ZO6 included in the extended warrenty for the overheating problem????
Didn’t affect 2019.
I just replaced my wheels on my 2019 ZO6, 2300 miles and 2 bent wheels. I spent the cash on Forgeline wheels .
How do I know if my wheels have a crack
I have my 16 Z06 wheels checked every 5000 miles by local specialty wheel repair shop checks for benz or cracks with my rotations.
Cracked wheels out of balance and you will lose air!
2019 Grand Sport…three cracked rims at 8500 miles…2800$ out of pocket…Torque Tube at 8000 miles..warranty but down for 2 months…..4 OE tires at 11k miles for wear….transmission hesitation at 4500 miles..W..two transmission services..W…multiple codes..lights…ect. Fun car but geez….
What type of wheels? I heard that this not happening to Croome wheels!?
Where can I get documentation for this to take to my dealership and have the work done.
I have bad overheating issues on the track.

When it comes to payouts
Can anyone help me out please? Regarding this overheating issue, at what temperature will my local Chevy dealership correct this problem? As they need “proof” of it occurring I’m trying to decide when I should take a picture or video of the panel temp. needle. I don’t run my car hard on a track but in normal city/highway driving mode it will climb up to 225°F on a hot summer day in July. Thanks!
can someone point me towards actual documents to provide dealer to get this work done?
the dealership has no idea what I am talking about or how to verify the cooling upgrades.
my z06 desperately needs these. I don’t make it through a 20 minute track session without overheating.
please
thank you
I was told for my Z you have to capture it on the PDR or a video with codes. Most dealers don’t know what they’re doing you have to go to a dealer that specializes in Corvette. Good luck. Cheers 🍻
Jon, Did you have any luck? I have the same issue on the Z06 I just bought.
Nope. And the dealership seems to have no idea about the recall
