The 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali will offer General Motors’ Super Cruise hands-free driving assistant as a late availability option, the automaker has confirmed.
GMC released a teaser image of the 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali’s interior along with its announcement this week, which shows a Sierra Denali steering wheel with the familiar Super Cruise engagement light bar and the Super Cruise digital interface on the truck’s new digital dashboard display.
The version of Super Cruise that will appear on the GMC Sierra 1500 Denali will be able to tow a trailer while in hands-free driving mode, GMC says, which could make it a popular option among those who frequently have to tow trailers on long highway jaunts. It did not say how much it would charge to add Super Cruise to a 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali. Again, Super Cruise will be available as a late availability option on the 2022 model year Sierra 1500, so it won’t be offered on the truck from launch.
Super Cruise is a hands-free driving assistant system that can hold a lane on the highway and stop and slow down with the speed of traffic. The system can also perform safe semi-autonomous lane changes if the driver engages the turning signal while the technology is activated. The technology uses cameras, sensors, precision LiDAR map data and GPS tracking to perform these semi-autonomous driving functions and can be used on more than 200,000 miles of compatible highways in the U.S. and Canada.
Super Cruise also uses facial recognition technology to track the driver’s eyes and ensure they are paying attention to the road while the system is turned on. If the driver is not paying attention, it will produce various visual and audible warnings before the green engagement meter on the steering wheel turns to red and the system hands the controls back over to the driver.
So far, Super Cruise has only been offered on Cadillac products, such as the now-defunct CT6 sedan and the new 2021 Escalade, among more. GM plans to slowly expand the availability of Super Cruise to all brands in its portfolio, however, with plans to offer it on a 22 different vehicles before the end of 2023. Other vehicles set to receive the technology in the near future include the updated Chevy Bolt EV hatchback and the 2022 Chevy Bolt EUV crossover.

Can see the new digital gauge cluster and trim on the cluster hood design
A fully-digital display…about damn time.
I think this refresh for the Sierra will be a good one. That interior needs a MAJOR overhaul.
What’s with GM and their always later availability for Supercruise? They pull this crap all the time, they never have all the new features when they launch a new or a mid-cycle refresh.
I predict Supercruise will cost 8k, in order to get it, you’ll have to load up the truck with options.
Hey you might be able to get Supercruise on the Denali before the Escalade. As far as I know, still not producing Escalades with it. Saw a letter where they were estimating mid December. Come to think of it, they didn’t specify what year!!
LOL whats with GM??? You acknowledge they pull this stuff all the time, so why are You acting surprised??
wear glasses with eyes pasted on them
He likes ineffective vehicles, here an short acronym to say it;
Defective Recalls, Organized Failures….
Dead Road On Found?
Usually…😉
I wonder if this digital cluster will make its way down to the 2022 GMC Yukon Denali?
I think it’s a safe bet the top model SUV’s will receive the digital cluster.
The 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban may get a fully digital gauge cluster on their top trims as well.
I like the gauges and general design from what I can see but the silver trim pieces with the diamond pattern look a bit low rent. (possibly better in person?) It’s concerning that I see no stitching anywhere including the steering wheel. They also need to offer the panoramic sun roof and more comfortable seating with this update. GM knows the standard that has been set for truck interiors. If they dumb down the new interior in anyway after all the heat they have recieved I simply have no words. I will try to stay positive and hold off on final judgement until I see the full production interior.
The Dash really did not matter much to me as if it had the Hud that is where I had my eyes.
I just wish they made HUD an option on the lower trims.
Since SuperCruise is not going to be a Cadillac exclusive, Cadillac needs to make SuperCruise standard across the entire Cadillac line-up. Make Cadillac Aspirational Again.
Will jack price of every model up 8kish. Still a good idea? Not really. Save it for higher trim levels.
